I found an amazing website... http://www.nhk.or.jp/kokokoza

Every week, the NHK (Nihon housou kyoukai) broadcasts some TV programmes for high school students so they can review everything they need in order to pass their exams smoothly. It follows exactly, step by step, everything the Japanese high school students are supposed to have studied by the end of the schoolyear.

Excellent for listening comprehension :)

I would never pay anything so I can learn a language. I'm strongly against any websites where you need to pay something to learn.

Figured I'd dump my link collection here. Some are probably duplicates of links that were posted earlier, but I'm pretty sure I've got new things there as well.
Oh, and I also added English in brackets for the Japanese headlines.

Also smaller size because jesus christ this list is kinda long.

Disclaimer: I have no idea what's in this list, since I added most of this stuff several months ago, and I don't even use most of the sites. So there might be tonnes of duplicates and I know for sure there are some forum threads I added because they had an interesting discussion or something. So yeah.

I'd like to share my favorite online translator http://translate.weblio.jp/
You can do J-E or E-J
It does not only translate words, it also gives you sample sentences/phrases.

Someone on another showed me this link, but I want to add it here too because it seems like a really good site:

It is a video course following a student in Japan.

This site has an intonation dictionary in Japanese which indicates when to rise and when to fall in many Japanese words.

http://accent.u-biq.org

It's very useful for those who try to get their pronunciation just like (Tokyo-ben) natives!

Not spam: Found a good app for nov / wanders: Human Japanese

Postby Trapy » 2014-06-02, 21:33

I've tried off and on to learn Japanese (for, basically, free), and found a good app last week that some of you wanderlust or cheap people like me would want:

Human Japanese:
http://www.humanjapanese.com/home.html

basically: free version goes over hirigana, half of katakana, about ~50 vocab words, minor (and rather redundant) culture points, but no kanji. It has some simple multiple choice review questions, and a matching tile game (which wouldn't be my first choice for a game, but, eh...)

I tried learning on the Nintendo DS with their My Japanese Coach, which was better for learning how to write (because touchpad), but My Japanese coach had a sudden, dramatically sharp learning curve about 1/3 the way through that killed it for me. So far, this app has a gentle learning curve. While I wouldn't use it solo, it is great so far.

It has a paid version which I will probably get once next paycheck goes through.

Similar to Real Kana there's Real Kanji is for reviewing kanji in the same fashion. I'm using it to learn by hovering over the wordand repeating what is shown and then learning by repetition.
