http://www.imabijapaneselearningcenter.com

The above site is THE best Japanese learning site on the internet. Light years ahead of anything else available on the web. (including Tae Kim's guide)

I have been chatting with the owner there. He is currently 18 and he claims to have made that entire site by himself. The site was made two years ago in 2009 so that means he was 16 when he made it. Also, he said he learned 3,000 characters in just three months! I searched Google to see if perhaps the material on site was stolen from elsewhere but that doesn't seem to be the case. The young lad seems to have a photographic memory. On a side note, the forum there on his site are quite possibly the worst I have ever seen in my life so the site is ok to use for learning Japanese but I would steer clear of the forums.

Correction, 17. I'm almost 18. The forums is not the worst. It's just that you need firefox and javascript on. 笑

Hey! You joined! Welcome to unilang.org, IMABI! This is the young man, who is the owner of that wonderful Japanese site I linked to above! I am glad to see you here and I saw the new "About Me" section on your site. Now that you are on the best language forum on the internet, you will have plenty of students to test how well you really know Japanese since you are 100% self-taught with no assistance from native/fluent speakers of the language.

Lol
I love dialects like the one above. I personally don't know why you feel inadequate in your skills in Japanese. I myself have yet to try to get my degree in Japanese, but I'm sure that's not going to be a big problem. I think that our back and forth discussion has been quite fruitful. I'm glad that you are enjoying my work and I'm pleased to have a conversation partner. As I have read through your commentaries, I have only found a few places that were unclear to me. For me, Japanese is as if I had a past life that knew it. Everything is as if I had known it previously. So, I am grateful in that aspect. Hokkaidou-ben will be a lot more difficult to fully grasp as it does not have as much definite structure as others. It is highly influenced by people that move there from other regions and is very close to standard. The only thing that I have noticed as far as differences is unique vocabulary and contractions--which are becoming quickly arbitrary. I really need help with Chinese. I only know a few individual words and I understand the written form 10 times more than I know the speaking.

Hmm, maybe you need a certain number of posts before you are able to PM. Well, I am on lesson 71 currently. The lessons are very in-depth and I have to slow my pace to try to fully absorb all of the information. Only 30 or so more lessons to go though, so I am still very excited!

71 eh? Then I've caught up with you. Be forewarned though. I'm thinking about scrubbing Lesson 69 and replacing it with an in-depth analysis of the 21 exceptional verbs in honorifics. Oh, and you aren't almost done. I haven't made it all yet. In 2012 you'll be done when I get done making it. Classical Japanese and dialects are going to be killers--not literally. lol
I've gone in and edited all the lessons from 1~72. I'm trying to race and get past you before you get to them. Your brain may begin to hurt as the pace gets faster. Lesson 80 was a nightmare for me to make. Over 10 pages long I think. I think I was insane for the attempt. You know there's a Japanese book that uses almost every usage of kakeru? It's an insane, fun, and quick read too. :) The book is called kakeru. What a coincidence right?

サゼッションが一つだけあります。レッスンの数しか書かれなかったから、メニューのリンクを使うのは大変だと思います。多分、ホームページにあるリストもリンクに成らせたらいいかもしれません。一方に君のサイトはとても便利とよくできたのだと思いますよ。:)

I did that in times past but it caused the website to operate incredibly slow. If you click instead on the titles of the scroll bar, for example, Beginner's IMABI, you get directed to a specific table of contents for that section as well. My website builder doesn't it allow to go past a certain number of characters in a page title. So, that is the reason why the links available only say Lesson...
I can, though, get that done for you in a matter of minutes. Please be patient.

Ah. You used a website builder. That would explain it :)
