Been busy at work, and when I was not busy, Unilang was down. I'll try to put up more cases next week.

Added some charts and an examples for each inessive and elative cases on the locative page. More examples and broader explanations will come later. I'll write up the remaining four before I focus on adding to each.

I also changed the Finnish Grammar page to list all the cases so far that have a site to link with.

Added an Illative section on the locative cases page with a few basic sentences. I'll make a chart soon with the pattern nouns used in most learning material (talo, auto, ja maa), as well as some harder and unique ones for the -seen and -siin examples. This will be the most lengthy chart, as illative has various suffixes instead of the normal suffixes for the other local cases.

Fixed some links in the accusative page.

En voi tehdä enää muutoksia sivuun. Siinä lukee "Toiminto jota hait on rajattu käyttäjiin ryhmässä käyttäjä".

I found other problems. This is just a list for me to keep track of to try to fix, but if someone feels like helping, by all means do so :D

wiki/index.php/Finnish_alphabet

Firefox 3 draws this oddly. Internet Explorer is worse.

wiki/index.php/Languages

This page is unrelated to our Finnish one, but...it's annoying >.>

wiki/index.php/The_-pA_suffix
wiki/index.php/The_-kin/-kAAn_suffix
wiki/index.php/Finnish_greetings
wiki/index.php/Finnish_farewells
wiki/index.php/Finnish:_how_to_tell_the_time
wiki/index.php/Finnish_computer_and_internet_vocabulary
wiki/index.php/Finnish_numbers

Headers are messed up.

weird, maybe the table code on the page messes it up somehow. I won't look into it tonight though.

Looks fine for me (Firefox 3), though the image links to the flags of course aren't working yet.

Someone added <br> to the end of the header lines. Header lines must start with == and must end with ==.

Actually, I was refering to wiki/index.php/Finnish_alphabet as the "Firefox 3 draws this oddly. Internet explorer is worse".

The languages page is just annoying because it's hard to find the Finnish page >.>

Hello all...
I know there's already a number of resources available on the UL wiki, but I have been adding my own information about Finnish to the Wikilang Finnish pages. I thought that perhaps this would give a different perspective and layout and give me much needed practice with the language. This is based on the theory that you can't explain something very well unless you understand it a bit yourself. :D Also, for way of comparison, I have also been working on the Finno-Ugric family comparison page which I believe would provide useful comparisons for learners for the different Finno-Ugric languages out there. So far I only have some really basic stuff like the personal pronouns in the nominative case, the numbers 1-10, and the present indicative conjugations of "to be" and "to not be". However, soon I hope to add information about inflection patterns for the case endings in the various Finno-Ugric languages. I have some grammar books for these languages that I got off of UZ, but they're in Russian so it will take me a bit longer to figure out how they work as I'll have to translate them first.

Everything else looks good to me, except what you wrote about -pa/-pä & -han/-hän. The example isn't really correct. Explaining these suffixes is also a rather daunting task, as you may guess if you browse through what I wrote on them in the UL Wiki :P. Otherwise, :waytogo:.

Related to daunting tasks, I've often wondered if non-native Finnish students understand why it's sometimes so funny when someone says something like
pennuille Jaffaa, pehmeä jänis or taking a longer, already rather legendary example Kettulan vintillä puimakone naksutti. When does a student of Finnish language just get these? In the very beginning? Never (all right, perhaps with some hard work :))? Does anyone know the basis of this phenonenom? Arranging vowels in a certain way? In which other languages you can do the same? in Finno-Ugric languages? Estonian? Karelian? Mari? Hungarian? If I did this in English or Swedish, would a native speaker understand?

Here's more examples if you're interested. For good chuckles. :yep:

I just came across Learn Finnish pronunciation in less than 10 minutes. Not bad, I think.
