Chisu and Tiktak are my favorite Finnish bands:

Mutta Mä Rakastan Sua - Tiktak
Mun koti ei oo täällä - Chisu

Although, for Chisu, as my Finnish gets better and I understand more and more of her songs, the lyrics seem stereotypically popish, but that's okay, she still rocks. :P

I guess that's the problem for all language learners who listen to music -- at one point one just starts to care about the lyrics more :).

Been listening a bit to Zen Café and Ismo Alanko lately. I suppose both can be characterised as rock. I think they're both decent, so well worth listening to, no matter if you understand the lyrics or not. Without paying too much attention to the lyrics so far, I have at least learnt that pulu means pidgeon :)

Zen Café - Talo
Ismo Alanko - Rakkaus on ruma sana

Edit: After reading the whole thread I do not know how I managed to forget Scandinavian Music Group, I have listened fairly much to them this autumn as well. Also used to listen much to Korpiklaani a couple of years ago. Actually rediscovered them this week after I put my iPod on shuffle, with all the songs on there :P
Looking for someone to practise [flag=]fi[/flag] with (e.g. Skype, instant messaging, etc.). Can offer to practise [flag=]no[/flag] in return :)

Hei kaikki! Huomasin juuri, että pidän Chisun "Muut"-kappaleesta aika paljon. Video on kaunis ja sanat ovat yksinkertaiset, mutta kauniit nekin.
Hi all! I just noticed that I like Chisu's song "Muut" quite a lot. The video is beautiful and the lyrics are simple but also beautiful.

Tässä video / Here's the video:

~*~

Pimeässä yössä kiillät kultaa, You shine like gold in the dark night
Sun rakkautesi maani saartaa. Your love surrounds my land
Rubiinikuori ja viha väistää, The ruby shell and hatred will get out of the way
Säteilee surun pois meistä. Radiating grief away from us
Sä pidät musta huolta. You take care of me

Ja me ei olla niin kuin muut: And we are not like others
Jos taivas vuotaa, If the heaven leaks
Sen haava umpeen suudellaan. We'll heal its wound with a kiss (lit. we'll kiss its wound to close)
Me ei olla niin kuin muut: We are not like others
Kun kauas juostaan, When we run far away
Mä pidän sun kädestä kiinni, I hold your hand
En päästä irti. I won't let go

Aika tekee meille tietä, Time is building us a road
Mä yöltä uuden tunnin riistän. I'm going to snatch a new hour from the night
Keinutaan toisemme uneen, Let us swing each other asleep
Keveinä maailmaan uuteen. Lightly into a whole new world

Sun luona on mun turva, I'm safe with you (lit. my safety is there where you are)
Mä pidän susta huolta. I take care of you
Sun luona on mun turva, I'm safe with you
Mä pidän susta huolta. I take care of you

Me ei olla, me ei olla We are no, we are not
Niin kuin muut. Like others

(Forgive me my crappy English. I tried my best. )

I can't believe people are throwing (glass!) bottles, though. Why do people have to live up to the sterotype that people who listen to heavy music are dumber or more misantopistic than average :pff:.

Rakastan Rajatonta! Rajattoman Nouse lauluni ja Ikävöi, ihminen ovat aivan uskomattoman kauniita kappaleita molemmat! :)

I love Rajaton! Rajaton's Nouse lauluni (=Rise, my song) and Ikävöi, ihminen (=Yearn, o man) are incredibly beautiful songs both! :)

Nouse lauluni (Anteeksi huonosta kuvan- ja äänenlaadusta. En löytänyt parempaa versiota...)

Ikävöi, ihminen

Stella - Aamun Kuiskaus
Indica - Pidä Kädestä
Irina - Pokka
Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu - Pauhaava sydän
Janne - Palun Jää
Janne - Teemant

EDIT: Tämäkin on hyvä :):

Kyllääääääää! Minä rakastan Rajatonta! "Nouse lauluni" is my faaaaaavourite song at the moment, and Lintu Lauleli Lehossa is just beautiful...

Pikku G and Fintelligens are my guilty pleasures. Chisu is pretty decent too, I suppose... But Rajaton steals my heart.

Kas vain sanoi kasvain ja kasvoi vain... Musiikkia! :D NadjaCS listasikin jo useita suosikkiyhtyeitäni. Seuraavassa muutamia pumppuja (engl. bands) tai irtokappaleita:
Tenhi (Folk? Edit: Since Korpiklaani was mentioned, maybe Shamaniac is all right too. The songs are in one of the Sami languages, I don't know which one, though. Oh, and this one is metal. :))
Pate Mustajärvi (rokkia, though I like Maan valitus is a better one from P. M.)
Leevi and the Leavings] (???)
Ystävän laulu (Arja :-), a very slow one, our Russian friends here probably recognise this one, in this context also don't forget Leningrad Cowboys)
Irwin \o/ (???)
Juha Vainio
(was Yö's Joutsenlaulu listed already? It's common knowledge! Also Lapin kesä is a classic!)
Katri Helena: Anna mulle tähtitaivas (with lyrics) (iskelmä)
Lapin tango
Täällä Pohjantähden alla (this starts to be the heavier classics, this barbwire version not for the faint-hearted)
Loiri (the lyrics are on the heavier side in this too)
Edit:
Olen suomalainen (almost forgot this one, see in Italian and Finnish simultaneously
... And if the evening yesterday was a heavy one, there are a couple ones for that too
Mandoliinikrapula
Jälkitauti

And many, many others. You get the picture if you surf around with Youtube links.

Äkkiä muutama lonkalta ennen nukkumaanmenoa. Aavistuksen melankolinen kimara.

Yeah, I'll be quiet now. I got carried away. :)

I've been looking for some finnish music myself lately...
there are two distinct types I've noticed I really like, and an overlapping of the two is nice as well
I like epic finnish metal (considering finnish metal is some of the best and most abundant in the world) but I would prefer to find bands that sing in finnish, if possible
villieläin is a nice band, I've heard a few of those...
korpiklaani is neat but they're growly and sing way too fast for me to keep up with
ensiferum has a few songs in finnish, but not many
the only nightwish/tarja songs I know that are in finnish are kuolema tekee taitelijan and oasis from my winter storm
I listened to a bit of a few of the others but haven't really found anything I like that much yet, unfortunately...
I hate the stereotype that we metalheads are nothing but a bunch of abrasive guys who want to destroy everything and get drunk all the time, or whatever it is people think about us. The truth is I know (myself included) a number of metalheads who are only like that part of the time 8-)
anyway, I was hoping to find some more nice metal bands (regardless of what type of metal, so long as I can understand them) that's actually sung in finnish... I have enough non-metal music in other languages, if I want to get some music from Finland or Sweden or somewhere like that, I want some of their awesome metal they're well-known for... 8-)
