To me it has a very pleasant melody, something that Polish language lacks - despite many other similarities. Listening to Czech songs makes me feel somehow cheerful and full of optimism. :yep:

I have a couple DVDs in Czech and hearing it, it doesn't bother me at all. It has nice sounds and rhythms and it never bored me or annoyed me.

As if sounding like other Slavic languages. I haven't hear anything more than Russian, unfortunately. So I can't really judge or compare it to other languages.

I don't know how the other Slavik languages sound but for me Czech sounds like German.

Nevím, jaky je zvuk jak se tyká jiné slovanské jazyky, ale pro mne si poslechnout jako německy.
Please correct my mistakes - auch in Deutsch.

I think it sounds nice. :) It's system of accents gives a special mellody existing only in Czech.

A strange melody. Strange, but beautiful.

Yeap, Czech sounds well but sometimes the great number of consonants one after another irritates me.

I think it's got a nice melody and accent. Many of your words look so old-fashioned and archaic, that's why I like it even more. 8-)

On the other hand, when spoken fast in every day life I tend to understand prsktkrktrjtjlrktk only.

I may be biased, since I already speak Slovak pretty well. But by comparison Czech sounds, as I would say in Faroese to describe some Faroese dialects, flat. It's also generally harder (unpalatalised), but also in other cases softer (the abundance of ě).

But to answer the original question: Yes, it definitely sounds like the other Slavic languages. :)

It sounds difficult to understand (unlike Slovak).

That is what we in Poland think. Czech is cheerful and full of optimism. We envy this. To many Polish people is Czech funny language. Many comics in Poland tend to pretend that they speak Czech by making Polish words soud more Czech  That`s crazy. We know that Czech language it`s similar to Polish and not difficult to understand for us. Some years ago were the song Jozin z Bazin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9MTGNaEXGM very popular in Poland. It made everyone laughting. Were this song also popular in Czech Republic?

It's sounds like a fusion of German and Russian with an Italian accent; not bad :)

I think pretty so in its times, no big hit but still a well-known song, among others by the same author, the singer, Ivan Mládek. His lyrics are pleasantly funny in a mildly childish way and not totally stupid at the same time, therefore quite attractive. Anyway this song is some thirty years old, so no huge popularity at the moment.

There is also a Serbian version of that song. It's quite idiotic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh0Co-2_jZw

The Czech one is much better.

We also love Helena Vondrackova :) She still looks so young. She used to sing in Polish, also. However some songs seems funny for us, for example this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18B3EOdk4rg . Also this music-video is so funny!

Younger people prefer listening to Ewa Farna and Halina Mlynková. I don't know if Halina sings in Czech also... However she comes from Czech Republic.

For me, Czech is one of the most beautiful languages in the world, which is pretty much the reason I'm stydying it. Russian sounds foreign to me, but Czech has a familiar tone. Perhaps it's the stress on the first syllable, which Finnish has as well. Yet it is also exotic enough to give me a whole new perspective on life - how language is structured tells me a great deal about the nation who speaks it :)!

It sounds like Polish, but more pleasant because it's not as dense in consonants as Polish.

Czech is probably one of the most pleasant sounding slavic languages but it also very funny due to the combination of its vocabulary and its "melody". :)

Another thing I love about the pronunciation of Czech (and Slovak) among the Slavic languages is its relative easiness to learn – the stress is always on the first syllable. :D

I agree, it's so complicated in Polish!
