How to say Hello in Russian?

Hi guys, I'm just starting learning Russian language, and can someone tell me how to say - Hello in Russian language?

You can say hello in many ways. The main thing: you should correspond to the situation.

When you say hello to your friends, you can say: "здорово", "привет".
When you say hello to adult, strangers, teachers: "здравствуйте" (hello), "добрый день" (good afternoon) ,"добрый вечер" (good afternoon), "доброе утро" (good morning). :)

Really, people say "здорово" for 'hi'? And they don't say "здравствуй"?

Yes, "здорово" is very common between close friends. It may sound a bit too colloquial, but "здравствуй" is even more rare, because it carries a mix of polite greeting "здравствуйте" and informal singular :) It may be heard from an adult addressing a kid, for example.

Interesting. I had no idea здравствуй was rare at all and hadn't encountered the term здорово before.
