Russian handwriting

Postby tonytonywood » 2012-08-14, 13:28

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me. I have recently found some WW2 photographs belonging to my Granddad who was Ukrainian a lot of them have messages on the back in Cyrillic handwriting and there is one in particular I am interested in. I have attached a link below. Someone from the Ukrainian forum has advised me the text is actually Russian. Can someone please let me know what is says?

Thank you.

Tony.

Hi Tony,

I think you've already got the answer in Ukrainian forum, personally I can't add anything to TheStrayCat's answer.

So it looks like "Saltsgitter (transliteration), lived (there) for 3,5 years".

My friend's grandmother also sent this kind of pictures from Germany where she had been taken for forced labour.
