Are pronunciation and vocabulary used in East Timor closer to Portuguese or Brazilian dialects?

It's closer to European Portuguese. East Timor was administered by Portugal up until 1975, so it's not surprising. If you listen to people like Xanana Gusmão, Ximenes Belo or José Ramos-Horta (former presidents and/or Nobel Peace Prize winners) their accent is pretty standard.

Thank you for answering.
I guessed so, but needed a confirmation from someone who knows better.
