sitifan, May I suggest that you open your own topic such as "sitifan - Hebrew" and ask all of your questions there? It is often done in these forums and will avoid a multiplicity of very short topics. I assure you we'll answer the best we can 8-)

I am learning Modern Hebrew now. My teacher holds a master's degree from Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She says that both pronunciations [gavoah/gavoha] are acceptable in Israel. Do you agree what she says? According to NTC's Hebrew and English Dictionary, the pronunciation of tall is gaVoha; the pronunciation of strange is taMUha. What's your comment?

I find that naturally I pronounce it gavoah, i.e. the h sound follows the a sound.
Anyway it's the correct pronunciation, as in other such words ending with "patakh gnuva" under a pharyngeal, for example פתוח - patuakh and never patukha. With h people might "get away with" with the wrong pronunciation since it is a very weak sound if not elided.

OK. Next time I'll open my topic under the title "sitifan - Hebrew" and then ask all of my questions there.
