Is there any way to meet North Koreans? I have such a fascination with North Korea now (and I'm beginning to learn Korean)....

There's no way you can meet them in Manitoba.

Well actually one of my friends' parents' emigrated from North Korea to South Korea, but she graduated this year and moved up north to teach.

I guess the best place to meet North Koreans would be in China, since it's near impossible for me to get into NK with my passport...

 I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you want to meet specifically North Koreans? Why not South Koreans?

I have South Korean friends here, tons of them, and in Korea. I'm interesting in NK because of its history and culture.

Gormur, JOIN THEM! They will overthrow bloodthirsty American imperialists and their South Korean bandit-gang puppets, abolish oppressive capitalists and their 'running dogs' and establish Socialist Paradise in Korea and the rest of the World! Just remember your physical life was given by biological parents but your sociohistorical life was graciously given by The GREAT LEADER and The DEAR LEADER to give you the chance to learn JUCHE, serve The GREAT LEADER and The DEAR LEADER and do your share of the holy REVOLUTION! :D

Be one of those "liberty-favouring" people of the "Free World" who support THE REPUBLIC and its CAUSE! The 21th Century will be KIM JUNG-IL Century and the JUCHE IDEOLOGY, revealed by the GREAT LEADER, shall prevail in the end, so have faith!

Wow... Is it really safe for someone whose parents have left North Korea to go back there to teach though? I guess maybe they were allowed to move...?

There are some in Beijing, but not much here in Harbin, in fact, not any that I've seen. There are more in Liaoning and Jilin, especially around Dandong, Yanbian...

Also you can ride on the train to Pyongyang, I'm not sure about a Canadian passport, but I know that American, Japanese, South Korean and Israeli passports aren't allowed.

Re: NK People

I met several North Korean government officials at the World Festival of Youth and Students (a mostly Communist and Socialist conference) in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2005. They had been sent by the NK government to represent the country. It was extremely interesting, I got to interact with them a bit as a couple of them spoke passable English. I even high-fived one, which I think makes me the only person in history to high-five a North Korean official.
Please correct my mistakes in any language.
