Er, I was going to say that after the Powwow I will likely join you as part of my Big Fat German Review I'm planning, if it's not too much a disruption of you two's roleplaying here.

In Ordnung! (Or at least I can try...although of course I'm trying to get through everything else, too :P).

I was thinking Vijay, while we wait for the others to join, maybe you can give me some extra exercises that are similar to what's in the book and/or give me some grammar type exercises based off of the material covered. What do you think?

I'll set my own pace for going through the material, and you can quiz me with extra stuff. Sound good?

Once Ser and ceid donn join, we can see what everyone else wants to do and readjust from there.

I think I'll take the liberty of posting my answers to exercises, as I work my way through the textbook. I like this idea.

Since I'm going to do just one language for the Powwow now, I can join up. You're on chapter 3 now?

Yeah, I just finished the exercises for Lesson 3(I). I'll be starting Lesson 3(II) This week. I think I'll slow down a little bit for you to catch up. I'll only do lesson 3(II).

Glad you could join in earlier than expected! :)

OK, I'll do both parts of Chapter 3 these week. I need to review these case endings. :)

1. The lion (masc. nom.) is the king (masc. nom.) of the animals (fem. neu. gen.).

"das Tier" is neuter. "der" isn't only the feminine singular genitive article, but also the genitive plural one (for all genders).

8. The unorderly life (neu. nom.) of the people (fem. gen.) is the well-being (neu. nom.) of doctors (masc. nom.). :?:

"Leute" doesn't have a singular, so I think you can't really assign it a gender.

"Ruhe" is the last sentence reminded me of the old X-Files episode "Unruhe" which I'm now watching in another window because it's been forever since I've watched it. This was such a goofy show. Classic. :P

The work is unpleasant to the woman, i.e. the woman finds the work unpleasant. (Dative, not genitive.)

księżycowy wrote:6. The child says the truth to the mother.

You could translate it this way, but quite often German uses sagen zu where it would be most idiomatic in English to say "tell".

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure what to do with sentence 3. Especially with unangenehm in the mix.

I did think it more idiomatic in sentence 6 to say "tells" instead of "says", but I guess I wanted to be a bit literal.

Danke!

It was a bit hard for me to make sense of the cases in sentence 7.
