Hello all,
I'm curious if anyone could give me recommendations for German textbooks written in Germany.

For example, I know of the Mittelpunkt series. Unfortunately it's only B1-C1. Anything anyone would recommend for the A1-A2 range? Or even better A1-C1? The more immersive the better!

Danke!

I've used studio d (A1) and Optimal A1/A2 before. They both kinda suck. But then again, I don't really like textbooks that are meant to be used in a classroom context.

I've heard good things about DaF Kompakt (A1-B1). Apparently it's aimed at adult learners and it goes at a faster pace... just one book covers 3 CEFR levels.

Wow, that does look good. Thanks for the tip Luís. (Also, sorry for the late reply!)

I've also found the Begegnungen series (which seems like a classroom textbook, more so then a self learner book, but I have some help here so it's possibility), and Grammatik Activ. My main problem with Grammatik Activ and DaF Kompakt is they are a little too workbooky. :P

Today I asked a man from Bardusch a couple of questions and he pronounced Arbeitskleidung like Arbeitschkleidung? What dialect is it?

Keine Ahnung. /s/ > [ʃ] | _C in non-initial position is characteristic of Alemannic, but in the varieties I'm familiar with it doesn't operate across morpheme boundaries. So Mischtbrüeih (Mistbrühe) but missbruuche (missbrauchen).

I would guess Sächsisch.

Edit: or Fränkisch, or I have no idea lol

There's still a chance I misheard him.

Eine neue Frage : What kind of r sound is used in Swiss Hochdeutsch?

In general, a trill. It even appears at the end of a syllable, perhaps just slightly reduced to a tap/flap :?:

I have heard uvular [ʀ] in Swiss Hochdeutsch as well but I'm not sure whether that is more typical for some western parts of Switzerland where the dominating language is French, or whether it has something to do with a general development (trilled [r] giving way to uvular [ʀ] in many regions of Germany and Austria).

I thought so. At least that's what I heard while listening to some Swiss radio stations.

Are my ears deceiving me or is the final s pronounced like z (ts)?

As in: Ich wäre lieber zu Hause als hier.

No, they're not deceiving you. That's not how it's pronounced in general, though. I can't think of any rule right now, but I think it tends to occur in (certain?) clusters.

I'm pretty sure I've heard it after /n/ before.

Yes, definitely.

Dabei tendiert -a- oft zu [ɔ]:
