Hi, any Danish speakers who can confirm that tøser is the direct translation for girls? Does it stand alone?

Any help appreciated.

In my Swedish dialect tös = girl, and töser = girls. Danish/Norwegian ø = Swedish ö.

I don't know about Danish or Norwegian though, but I'm quite sure it at least exists in the latter since my dialect group is closer to the south-eastern dialects of Norwegian than to Standard Swedish.

Yes, tøs means 'girl'. It's a slang term, AFAIK.

However, in old times, the term meant 'bitch', 'slut', 'whore'. However, today when Danish girls talk among and about themselves, they use this word: 'tøs'. :)

Indeed it does. It is very much a slang word, however, and wouldn't be used much outside of the context "Hvordan går det tøser?" - "How are you girls?" Or simililar.
Interestingly, "tøs" in Norwegian means "slut," according to wiktionary.

Note that I do not live in Denmark, and thus may not be fully aware of the current usage. I do believe however, that what I said was correct. Please correct me, if it was not.

Edit:
Seems Mulder got here before me. Ah well, you can't always be first at everything.

The same applies for me. I'm just extrapolating from the Danish influx I get from TV, internet, Faroese slang using Danish slang (the most horrific thing I've heard recently is when my sister and her girlfriends have a get-together called 'tøse-kvøld' EEK), etc.

"Tøse-kvøld?" Even in my ears that sounds absolutely horrendous. And I'm known, not to be shy with using Danish slang.

Indeed :P So I instantly imagined some misunderstandings...
Dansk pige: Hvordan går det så med dig, tøs?
Norsk pige: Hvad!? Din.... !!

Well, using the Faroese cognate 'teys' would yield the same reaction! :D

God kveld!

Just a little help please.
Could you tell me the Danish version of the warning from trains or underground
"Do not lean against the doors!" ?

Looking forward for reliable replies :doggy:
