Just a little help please.
Could you tell me the Danish version of the warning from trains or underground
"Do not lean against the doors!" ?
Looking forward for reliable replies
In the Copenhagen metro, the warning is:
"Hold venligst afstand til dørene." = "Please keep a distance to the doors."
To say "do not lean against the doors" in Danish would require using a personal pronoun, making the sentence rather awkward in that context:
"Læn Dem (venligst = please) ikke op ad dørene." (Formal.)
"Læn dig (venligst) ikke op ad dørene." (Informal.)
Or, alternatively:
"Lad (venligst) være med at læne Dem op ad dørene." (Formal.)
"Lad (venligst) være med at læne dig op ad dørene." (Informal.)
Oh, and by the way, "kveld" is Norwegian, in Danish it's "aften"
