It's more like: "It's very useful for me", or "it comes very handy for me".

Por ejemplo: "Mi hermano me ha regalado una impresora nueva, y me viene de maravilla porque la que tenía antes no funcionaba".

I just realized that the expression is “ it comes in handy" At least in United States English.

Significa que "está cerca, o que me viene de camino". Literally it means "it finds me nearby", like "it's on my way".

- Having learned Latin for a few years in the distant past.

- Level of speaking Spanish: B2 or sometimes even more

- Passive understanding of especially written Spanish: B2 up to C2, depending on the subject

- Spanish is my most advanced language of my "still learning" list, alongside with Dutch.

Are there some verb tenses in spoken Spanish that one really doesn't need to learn unless aiming for Native-Like All-Purpose Spanish Fluency?

Yo acepto las dos versiones. (Bueno, yo diría "el televisor", para mí "la televisión" es solo el servicio televisivo, pero en otros dialectos sí dicen "la televisión" para referirse al aparato.)
