Me viene de maravilla

Postby schnaz » 2018-07-26, 12:17

Ola a todo (as) Que maravilla es Google Translate que puedo revisar mis garabatos y asi evitar muchos errores y lo consigiente humilición publico. 😂 Oií la frase « Me viene de maravilla » ¿ Puedo traducirlo en ingles como " It was right on time"? which is a phrase I first heard from a black person. For example :"Sarah cooked beans and rice and it was right on time because I hadn't eaten in two days. Incidently it was a Cuban person who used the phrase "me viene de maravilla. " Gracias
"I am already against our next war." https://www.antiwar.com/

It's more like: "It's very useful for me", or "it comes very handy for me".

Por ejemplo: "Mi hermano me ha regalado una impresora nueva, y me viene de maravilla porque la que tenía antes no funcionaba".

¿Qué quiere decir "pilla" aquí: "…Bueno, como me pilla cerca de mi trabajo…"?

Significa que "está cerca, o que me viene de camino". Literally it means "it finds me nearby", like "it's on my way".

“Lo voy a hacer como yo quiera”

“Montármelo” = doing

“A mí bola” = a mí manera

How to intuitively be able to use the different Spanish past tenses?
Because at least to me, they seem rather similar...

Sí, es mi lengua materna. Francamente, nunca he pensado en ello. Para mí, los diferentes tiempos verbales del pasado, sí son diferentes. Y los necesito para matizar la frase :hmm:

Major Spanish breakthrough?

Postby langmon » 2018-11-10, 9:57

Background:

- Having learned Latin for a few years in the distant past.

- Level of speaking Spanish: B2 or sometimes even more

- Passive understanding of especially written Spanish: B2 up to C2, depending on the subject

- Spanish is my most advanced language of my "still learning" list, alongside with Dutch.

How to achieve a really major Spanish breakthrough in this situation?

Things I still need to learn more about include:

- Subtle nuances and connotations.

- The ability of being actively able to use a multitude of conjugated verbs in the different tenses.

In Spanish, the subjunctive is used much more often than its equivalent in several other (non-Romance) languages.

Are there some verb tenses in spoken Spanish that one really doesn't need to learn unless aiming for Native-Like All-Purpose Spanish Fluency?

This question is about both the indicative and subjunctive verbs.

¿Por qué se dice "Como ya estaba muy vieja la televisión, la hemos cambiado" y no algo como "Como la televisión ya estaba muy vieja, ..."? ¡Gracias!

En realidad, se pueden decir las dos cosas...

Yo acepto las dos versiones. (Bueno, yo diría "el televisor", para mí "la televisión" es solo el servicio televisivo, pero en otros dialectos sí dicen "la televisión" para referirse al aparato.)
