I don't think this is an effective way of making this the translations thread, already I see that drchris missed it. How about renaming it to :

Traducciones | Translations

and making it a "Sticky" so it's always at the top.

drdchis :

We're you at the spanish meeting last night

No entiendo qué quieres decir con "we're you"
I don't understand what you mean by "we're you"

I think he meant to say "where" since the rest of the sentence is in the past. Therefore we get:

He meant to say "Were you at the meeting last night?"

Of course I can't speak for drdchis, but I do notice that a lot of native english speakers, particuarly here in the UK, seem to get confused between we're and were. The same goes for there, they're and their.

Could you please be so kind to give me the most important facts? I think I already understand the important parts of the text but I just want to be sure. :)

I'm a fan of flamenco and was listening to the late Rocio Jurado sing this song, but unfortunately I don't speak Spanish. Would someone be so kind as to translate these lyrics into English? Thank you!

Could anyone please translate the pieces below into Spanish? Being a poor university student I live in a residence hall (US: dorm room facility), which also houses exchange students with questionable grasp of the English language, and so, to avoid misunderstandings (and silly excuses on their behalf), we're seeking to have our information material in the language of every nationality represented in our hallway. Thanks a million in advance! :)

A)
Below is the kitchen roster. Your duties and chores are listed on the list that is passed round from tenant to tenant.

It's important that you do all your chores and thus keep the kitchen clean and enjoyable for us all.
Should you be absent in the week for which you've been rosted, or otherwise prevented from doing your chores, please try to swap weeks with one of the others. Failure to do so will result in a fine.

You will also be fined if you neglect one or several of your duties (30 DKK for neglecting one duty; 150 DKK for neglecting all). Should you fail to pay, a formal complaint will be filed against you to the Tenants' Council.

B)
This week you're responsible for cleaning the kitchen. This includes, but is not limited to;

* Taking out old newspapers and empty glass jars to the proper containers

* Vacuuming and washing the floor

* Sweeping the worktops [US: kitchen counters], the stoves, the kitchen table, the sofa table and the TV set.

* Washing the used tea towels, kitchen towels and dishcloths (90 degrees C -- no prewash!)

* Buying the items listed on the shopping list on the whiteboard. Keep the receipts and give them to Lise (room 237), and you will be reimbursed for your expenses.

* Generally keeping a sanitary standard in the kitchen. (That said, EVERYONE using the kitchen is responsible for cleaning up their own mess!)

(See NOTE)

NOTE 1: I cannot find the difference between tea towels, kitchen towels and dishclothes :hmm: I think the three of them are translated by 'paños de cocina', but I'm not so sure. Do you include the napkins?

NOTE 2: My translation is predominantly European, using the European words and the 'vosotros' form. If you prefer a more American one please specify.

First of all; sorry if I posted my request to the wrong forum. To me, it looked like I was posting to the Translations forum. (I'm not your average Internet dumbass who clicks the first button he/she sees -- believe you me! ;))

Thank you very much for the translation, though. European/Iberian Spanish is fine, as our Spanish-speaking people are Europeans.

About the towel business; well, my disctionary isn't the best on the planet, and Danish is a master in inventing ridiculous words that don't have equivalents in other languages. That said, I suspect I was/am fishing after AmE kitchen towels = BrE kitchen towels, and so, to my modest ears 'los paños de cocina' gets the point across perfectly. :)

Again, muchas gracias! :)

You did, but translations from/to just one language don't belong in the Translations forum, but the respective Language-specific forum. The reason is that it is related to that language (and you're more likely to get an answer there).
Please correct my mistakes!

{Diddy:}
Hey yo just turn me up
Yo yo it's been a long time
(ya turn me up just a lil bit more)
I wanna make sure they can feel me
Turn me up just a lil bit more
ya, like that

Can you feel me
Do that - do that - do it
Do that - do that - do it
Do that - do that- do it
Do that - do that- do it
Ooh yeah
On the dance floor
Yeah yeah yeah
Lets play a game
On the dance floor
(Oh yeah)
Yeah yeah yeah

Lets play a game
lets pretend for a second
you don't know who I am
and what I do, lets just put it do the side
I can feel your heart beating
I can hear you breathing
Look into your eyes, try to see into your mind
See into your soul
See no limits, to the levels me and you can go
When it's me that is in control
But it's something 'bout you that make me wanna change
I like the way you dance and the way you play the game
I like the way you take away the pain
The way you tell me that you want it, not saying a thing
The way you got me going got me goin, out of my brain
See us going at it, goin in and out of them lanes

I don't want your innocence
I don't want you to stutter
I don't want a committment
And I don't want you to suffer
I don't want your number
Baby, I want you to wonder
Want you to come up looking like it's something you wanna

{Christina:}
Tell me
what you thinkin about when got me waiting patiently
And usually I don't have to wait for nobody
But there's something bout you that really got me feelin weak
And I'm tryin to find the words to speak

Boy I got my eyes on you
Tell me what you wanna do
I can picture you in my room
Until the mornin
I don't even know your name
Boy, I need to know your name
I'm hopin that you feel the same
Tell me if you want it

I know you gonna like it (I know)
So tell me how you want it (tell me)
and you dont have to fight (you know)
cuz baby you're invited (baby)
I know you gonna like it (I know)
So tell me how you want it (tell me)
But you dont have to FIGHT it..you know
baby youre INVITED.. babe

Tell me ...

{Diddy:}
Ya dreams fulfilled, you rockin wit the best
Unforgivable, i'ma put ya limits to the test
You're pulsating, ya heart is beating out of your chest
You're hyperventilating, tryin to catch your breath (Don't stop)
Im the first Im the next Im the end
Im the pulse and of course ill make ya my thing
Look how I approach you, look how I expose you
Look how Ive studied every move, now I know you
I don't wanna control you, I wanna console you
And do everything that I told you (I told you)
get high wit me, come touch the sky wit me
Fly wit me, see, like the new wiser me?(Don't stop)
Im the dream, Im the one
Im the reason you come, Im a king
Im a hum, im a beast
Im the last thing your eyes see
the passion beside me is yours
now come try me c'mon

{Christina:}
Tell me
what you thinkin about when your hands is all on me
Cuz I've been thinking about all the possibilities
Ain't no other place that I really wanna be
cuz you swept me off my feet

Boy I got my eyes on you
Tell me what you wanna do
I can picture you in my room
Until the mornin
I don't even know your name
Boy I need to know your name
I'm hopin that you feel the same
Tell me if you want it

I know you gonna like it (I know)
So tell me how you want it (tell me)
and you dont have to fight (you don't)
cuz baby you're invited (baby)
I know you gonna like it (I know)
So tell me how you want it (tell me)
And you don't have to fight it (Baby you're invited)
Cause baby you're invited (Baby)

{Christina:}
I got a selection of the positions of affection
With no pressure
So tell me
Tell me how you want it, tell me how you want it babe
I got a selection of the positions of affection
With no pressure
So tell me
Tell me how you want it
Tell me how you want it babe

Do that - do that - do it
Do that - do that - do it
Do that - do that - do it
Do that - do that - do it

Hi malwoden,

I have tried to translate your song, but I'm afraid I cannot. This song is flamenco and it's too difficult for me to translate it into English, since there are too many local expressions of which I wouldn't be able to find a proper translation (faralaes, tablao) and metaphores (deshojar primaveras). I can try to do some not-as-good-as-I-would-wish translation tomorrow, I think it's better than nothing. Sorry for the late answer though.
