Using "جو"

Postby Brzeczyszczykiewicz » 2020-06-29, 5:06

From what I've read (and heard) I understand that "هواء" is the general term for "air" in Arabic. However, most, if not all, bilingual dictionaries I've used so far also list the alternative "جو".

In what sort of context would that one be used in contemporary Arabic, if at all?

I assume you're asking about MSA. My understanding is that جو technically means "air" but is more often used in the sense of "environment" or sometimes "weather" (as a synonym of طقس).
Please correct my mistakes in any language.

Sorry for not specifying that! Yes, I was indeed asking about MSA.
And that's yet another one you've cleared up for me, cheers, man!
