I think i listened through it once, but didn't find it very good :P her previous albums are better.. betfakkar fi eih, baladiyat and min gheiri ana are ok. i'm not a huge nancy fan anyway (but i used to listen to akhasmak ah and inta eeh)

i just downloaded nawal's (el kwaitiyye) new album and it's quite good (mou liya is great), although i don't usually listen to khalijy music :)

yeah I dont like Nancy but i like most of her music abut i compleatly hated her new album Lol

Lol i love Khalijy music :D

Do you happen to have 7sein el jasmy's song ba7ebbak wa7ashtiny :D?

nazarene arabic

a bit sad, but a very lovely song!

I'm learning a bit of lebanese arabic with a booklet in dutch & produced in the early 1980's. so i guess it's outdated, but the basics should be the same right?

my friend from nazareth invited my to visit his hometown. i'm planning on going there sometime in september, and i thought lebanese arabic would be the closest one to the one spoken in nazareth. :?:

i'm kind of uncertain though, because the german wikipedia article about palestinian arabic says:
Das Imperfekt des Verbs wird wie in vielen anderen arabischen Dialekten auch mit b-Präfix gebildet, während das alte Imperfekt zum Ausdruck des Subjunktivs dient:

bilbis „er zieht an“ - biddo (-u, -a, -e) yilbis „er möchte/wird anziehen“.

Die 1. Ps. Sg. des Imperfekts wird stets mit a gebildet:

bašrab ‚ich trinke‘
bidd(i) ašrab ‚ich möchte/werde trinken‘
biddi arūḥ / anām / ašūf ‚ich möchte/werde gehen / schlafen / sehen‘
Verben, die ursprünglich Hamza als ersten Radikal hatten, werden im Imperfekt mit langem ō gebildet, beispielsweise:

bōkul (städt.) bzw. bōčil (bäuerl.) ‚er isst‘

i'm confused because the statement "1st person singular imperfect is always built with an a" is negated in the examples:

bilbis [he's wearing]
biddo yilbis [he wants to wear]
bidd [i want]

but i suppose ashrab, aruu7, anaam, ashuuf would all start with an i in lebanese? so ishrab, iruu7, inaam, ishuuf?

also, how come the -o in "biddo"?

Mar7aba!

Bidd behaves like a verb but it doesn't belong to any of the Verb classes. It cannot be used without a pronominal suffix attached to it.

Biddi - I want
Biddak - You want (m.)
Biddik - You want (f.)
Biddo - he wants
Bidha - she wants
etc.

It can be negated by either ma or the suffix -sh, like verbs.

mar7aba shadad!

thanks a lot!

i thought ma- and -sh belong together like:
mabiddosh
mabiddhash
mabiddiksh
mabiddaksh
mabiddish
etc.

Palestinian Arabic is spoken in Nazareth, and there are some materials out there for the Palestinian dialect, so that's what I'd look for. If you can't find enough then yes, I guess Lebanese/Syrian Arabic would be the closest.
Please correct my mistakes in any language.
