Hola Núria!

Aquesta pregunta meva era malformulada. Vull saber come es pronuncia, amb l'e tancada o amb l'e oberta. (I si no li dius "hevea" a aquest arbre, com li dius? "Siringa"? "Abre del cautxú"?)

“Hevea” no existeix en llatí perquè és un neologisme. Si vegis aquesta paraula en un texte ¿com la pronunciaràs? O on cercaria la pronunciació normativa?

Are there books in Catalan adapted for beginners?

I've seen materials produced specifically for learners, but I'm not sure if any of them fit your definition of " books in Catalan adapted for beginners". Could you be more specific? Do you mean, say, works of Catalan literature with annotations or glosses to make them more accessible? Or do you mean original texts with adult content (such as an introduction to the political structure of the autonomous communities) but at a beginner's reading level?

More so the latter. Like graded reading for different levels: A1, A2 etc. I'm an absolute beginner.
Books with annotations would be helpful too, if there is nothing easier. Or maybe books that have parallel translations / interlinear translations (I have found such for other languages). Still, I would prefer something that isn't too challenging vocabulary-wise.

Poking around a bit, I discovered an NGO called Associació Lectura Fàcil, which apparently exists in order to promote reading in Catalan for adults with reading difficulties. Their website includes a bookstore with a varied selection of titles, including some noted classics of Catalan literature. I had a look at the preview for one of these (Solitud by Victor Català) and found it dramatically simplified compared to the original (which I found somewhat challenging due to the wealth of unusual vocabulary, some of it too dialectal to be found in normative dictionaries). The books aren't exactly cheap and I'm not sure how easy they'd be to find used, but you could try.

I basically taught myself Catalan with the help of a simple instructional guide (Teach yourself Catalan) and a volume of short stories from Pere Calders. He turned out to be a good choice, because most of his stories are quite short (many five pages or less) and have an interesting droll twist. His diction is somewhat old-fashioned, but I don't recall him ever using a word I couldn't find in a bilingual dictionary. I'm not sure who else I might recommend. Rodoreda and Roig seem a bit too challenging for a beginner, at least from what I've seen of their writing.
