Rate my català

Postby Irrisim » 2006-04-01, 11:53

Bon dia!
I'm going to Pineda de Mar (north catalonia, by Costa Brava) in July - so I am learning català.
I have recorded a piece of text from my spyware program. And I want natives or fluent speakers to rate me from 1-10 how much native i sound - you are welcome to comment.

http://www.geocities.com/kleitsami/recording.wav
Here's the text:
Aquesta és la pàgina principal d'anàlisi de Spybot-S&D.
Aquí es pot analitzar el sistema amb el botó "Cercar incidències" i solventar qualsevol dels problemes que s'hagin trobat amb el botó "Corregir problemes".
Suggeriment: Si encara no ho heu fet, llegiu el tutorial del menú Ajuda per aprende a interpretar els resultats de l'anàlisi.

Hey it was pretty good!! :D :o
Just a few general tips :)

* s between vowels is pronounced as [z]
* the final r in verbs is not pronounced in most dialects (as in the one spoken in Pineda de Mar )
* the gg part in "suggeriment" is pronounced as [gdZ] , as an initial g followed by the English j in "joy"

And as a sidenote, it is aprendre ;)

I think you'll be really welcome in Pineda de Mar with such a good Catalan  How long have you been learning it? And remember you can always ask me if you happen to have any doubt ^_^

Thank you for your response.
I've been learning the language for about a week.
I didn't know about all of those facts you just told me, but they are very useful. Gràcies!

Gràcies.
I'm learning through Babel Site, which is very good. Then I also use Unilang's course on this forum.
I haven't used any books so far. 8)
By the way, how do you say vacation in catalan? Is it vacanció?

Irrisim, if you want to know if you can speak well catalan you have to be able to say:

"Setze jutges d'un jutjat
mengen fetge d'un penjat"

Well, that's the beginning, I think someone might know how it ends...

 even some native speakers might find it a bit difficult to pronounce that at a certain pace  :P
