Is there a way of saying, "Love Birds" in Georgian?
Or something close to that?

Thank you! (:

You would probably use გვრიტი (gvrit'i) darling, (literally) turtledove. Georgian nouns inflect, so it would change depending on how you use it - the plural vocative would be გვრიტებო (gvrit'ebo).

I was going to suggest პირველად შეიყვარე შენი თავი p'irvelad sheiqvare sheni tavi. I've found similar sentences with both შეიყვარე and გიყვარდეს, so it would seem you could say either. გიყვარდეს popped up in the ten commandments (not reflexive), so I wonder if it's a little more solemn, maybe because it's conjunctive. :hmm:

I was looking through old letters and found this little scribble. I am pretty sure it is Georgian, but other than that I have no idea. Thanks for the help!

Looks like it says იოსებ სუყონი "ioseb suqoni." იოსებ is Joseph, but I don't know about the second word. I guess it could be a surname, but I may not be reading it correctly.

Dear friends,

I ask you to translate a couple of words/sentences into Georgian for me (I do speak Kartulad, but it's not yet as good as I would like it to be) preferably using the Georgian fonts and thanks in advance! My question is as follows:

1. to ask
2. I want to ask you
2. I need to talk to you

One more question:
Is there any section in this forum (or on any other site you might know about) for a free chat in Georgian ?

Anadilim Gürcüce değil ancak ilk soruya olan cevaplar şöyle:
1. კითხვა
2. მინდა გკითხო
3. უნდა გესაუბრო

İkinci sorunun cevabı ise burası UniLang'de artık sohbet bölümü yok, ancak Busuu'da sohbet hâlâ var hatırladığım kadarıyla.

(You can translate these into English if you don't understand Turkish)
native: (tr)

intermediate: (fr) (ka)

I saw this sign on a recent trip to Georgia, and wondered if someone here might be able to translate it. I've studied the alphabet a bit, but I only know a few very basic phrases of the language. I believe the sign has something to do with a former pioneer camp "Tsiskari". Any help would be much appreciated!

It's ბავშვთა გამაჯანსაღებელ[ი] ქალაქი ცისკარი (with the ი broken off) "children's wellness (or fitness) city Tsiskari."

Cool picture. :)

გმადლობთ! I'm starting to get familiar with the alphabet, but sometimes the stylized characters still confuse me, and I'm certainly not knowledgeable enough to fill in the missing letters. :)

I was wondering also about this inscription, from a monument of bronze warriors next to the Gori fortress:
Image
Here's a close-up detail:
Image
I think it says something like "წაქცევა მისი ნუ ჰგონია ნურვის იოლი! სული აცვია საქართველოს კავკასიონის! - მუხრან" but I'm not sure what the translation would be.

And finally, I think I've managed to translate all of this sculpture (with the help of some English versions of "The Knight in the Panther's Skin"), from the entrance to the Rustaveli metro station in Tbilisi:
Image
რუსთაველი (of course) in the upper right

Image
It is love that exalts our souls
სიყვარული აგვამაღლებს

Image
Evil is vanquished by good, for the essence of good is enduring
ბოროტსა სძლია კეთილმან, არსება მისი გრძელია

Image
Better to die a glorious death than to live in shame!
სჯობს სიცოცხლესა ნაძრახსა სიკვდილი სახელოვანი!

Image
That which we give makes us richer, that which is hoarded is lost
რასაცა გასცემ შენია, რას არა დაკარგულია

Image
The best gain is a respected name, a name that time can't erase
სჯობს სახელისა მოხვეჭა ყოველსა მოსახვეჭელსა

If you see some mistakes, please let me know!

Good job making all that writing out! I find it hard to read too, but I don't see any errors.

A Google search shows it to be an expression, though I'm not sure what the source is. Mukhran Machavariani perhaps?

I would translate it as "let no one think it easy to topple it! Georgia is dressed with the soul of the Caucasus (range)!"

Thanks again! If you're up for a couple more, these lines are written on another monument/building near the Gori fortress:

მამულისთვის დაიღუპნენ ვაჟკაცობის მსახველნი,
საქართველო იყო მათი უწმინდესი სახელი.

გმირნო მამულის მადიდნო, თქვენა ხართ ჩვენი დიდება!
თქვენთა სახელთა ამაყად წარმოსთქვამს შთამომავლობა!

They turn up on a google search, and seem to be from poetry by Lado Asatiani and Grigol Orbeliani.

And this looks like the entrance to a former state farm near Poti:

I hope these aren't too much trouble. I've been going through photos from a trip, trying to gather as much information as possible. I appreciate your help very much - გმადლობთ!

I would say:
They perished for the fatherland showing manly courage,
Georgia was their holiest name.

Oh heroes, who glorify (lit. make great) the fatherland, you are our glory!
[Your] descendants proudly speak your names!

That's great, because I keep finding more things to translate! :)
These are from a Memorial of Nine Kherkheulidze Brothers in Marabda, south of Tbilisi:

Image
I know this one is "მარაბდა 1625", referring to the battle that the monument commemorates. The others I'm not as sure about.

Here's a photo of the whole monument, which is pretty impressive:

I wasn't able to get a good close-up of this World War II monument just north of Tbilisi, so the letters are not very clear. It may be a long shot, but let me know if you can make out what it says!

(I was actually only able to make out the last three words, but fortunately that was enough to fill in the blanks with a Google search. I'm guessing these are all from poems or songs or such.)

Wow, I never expected to find a translation for that last one - thanks! This is another challenging one, from a small monument in Poti:

Image

I can make out the name Grigol Kokaia (გრიგოლ კოკაიას) but not much past that. The Russian version underneath hasn't been much help either, since several of the letters look very similar in that particular script. If you can make some headway with it, that would be great. Here's the whole monument:

Image

And just to check my own work, this is from another World War II monument:

Image

It looks to me like:
დიდება გმირებს!
Glory to the heroes!

Here's that whole monument, in case you're curious:

Image

Cheers, and thanks yet again!
