Have you heard about such stories or fairy-tales? How is it called in English?
It's about a wife who alsways argued with her husband. And when she drowened he started to search for her up-stream...

That sounds exactly like the Norwegian fairy tale "Kjerringa mot strømmen", or in my improvised translation, "The hag against the stream."

Thanks :) Actually my friend is translating it from Norwegian ;) And he is just interested in the variants in other languages :)

Contact the School of Scottish Studies at Edinburgh university, they have an archive of folk tale varients. Anyway, they'd be able to tell you about the classification system. It was put together by some Finnish or Norwegian people, (I forget precise details! We had a few lectures on it but my notes are all in Edinburgh just now and I am not).
