My favourite English accent is the South African English one. I'm not a native English speaker, but when I do come in contact with English South Africans I quite appreciate their accent. It's a bit of a change from all the American and British TV shows I watch daily. The old Rhodesian accent is also interesting. They use the word "hey" in just about every sentence.

My favourite accents are those from Cambridge (the one used in the recordings of Cambridge ESOL tests) and New York (not the stereotypical one, but how the average New Yorker talks in semi-formal or formal situations).

I might be wrong but I have an inkling that many non-native speakers have quite a loose idea of what "posh" means and therefore they tend to misuse this word.

The fact is that each time I speak with the British accent, people think I'm pompous. I guess they think I'm imitating the Queen or sth :D

I personally think the Boston Brahmin accent is the most posh, or any accent where they don't say "toilet".

I think European aristocrats speaking their subtly accented near-RP manage to sound more posh than the poshest native Britons.

British accent is the best for me, specially Scottish, even though I can't understand a word. But it is so sexy that I can't resist :<3:
