Holiday music from various languages/cultures

Postby Linguaphile » 2019-11-25, 2:10

Christmas is a month away and I'm starting to think about my Christmas music playlists again. I thought I'd make a thread for holiday music in different languages; Christmas music is what gave me the idea, but the songs don't have to be limited to Christmas. Any holiday or celebration music can go here (related to any religion or to any non-religious celebrations).

List of Languages in this thread:

They use that melody for a Christmas hymn in North Sami

In Swedish, Härlig är jorden is commonly sung at funerals, and even when not, it has nothing to do with Christmas.
Swedish (sv) native; English (en) good; Norwegian (no) read fluently, understand well, speak badly; Danish (dk) read fluently, understand badly, can't speak; Faroese (fo) read some, understand a bit, speak a few sentences; German (de) French (fr) Spanish (es) forgetting; heritage language.
