This. At the end of the day, I listen to a pretty wide range of music and sometimes appreciate things I would normally not bother listening to.

It's summer, and that makes me think of reggae, so while we're in Italy here's some Sir Oliver Skardy.

The closest things to modern Italian music I can specifically recall are "Te pai 'n benè" in the Spezzino variety of Ligurian (a parody of Aserejé), "Pesto" by Buio Pesto in Genoese (which is also a variety of Ligurian), and "L'uomo in Smart" in Romanesco.

Lauren Mayberry is perfect and I love her voice especially the way she pronounces /aʊ/ like [əʉ].

CHVRCHES is the best new 80s band I've heard in years.

This is one of many, many songs in Malayalam I used to listen to a lot on an audiocassette as a kid (especially on long car drives). It's a song called "D.I.S.C.O." (but also known as "Swarnathaamara Kiliye") from the 1985 movie Ee Thanalil Ithiri Neram. (Actually, I used to listen to every song from this movie on the same audiocassette as a kid):

Last night, I randomly remembered the song "Sunday Ki Raat Thi" from the Bollywood movie Rajaji (1999). I posted this song on the Hindi/Urdu songs thread once. I encountered it for the first time in Kochi at my aunt and uncle's house where I randomly saw it airing on TV one morning (on India's version of MTV IIRC). I'm pretty sure it's filmed entirely in Switzerland and mainly in Zürich:
