The Gbaya languages are a group of languages spoken in Central Africa, mainly in the Central African Republic. They were once thought to be part of the Ubangian language family, like the Ngbandi languages that Sango, the creole that became CAR's lingua franca, is based on. However, more recently, it's been proposed that they may be most closely related to the Gur languages, which are part of Niger-Congo, or at least to other Niger-Congo languages rather than Ubangian.

Anyway, I'm actually not sure which language this song is or even what country it's from (apparently, it's from Guinea?). :P But I found it while searching for songs in Gbeya, which is a Gbaya language spoken (only) in CAR. It's apparently called "Gbeya Nma Fouty Koui" and performed by a singer known as Mai Tanaka:

Once again, I can't tell what language this song is in, although this time, I can at least tell that it has some French in it. I don't think the rest is Sango, but I could be wrong; who knows? However, it's from near Bozoum, which is the capital of the prefecture of Ouham-Pendé in the Central African Republic. One of the languages spoken there is Kare, so I think I'll just talk about that. :P Kare is one of the Karang languages, closely related to Karang, Nzakambay, and Pana as well as a language called Ngumi.

Anyway, here's the song. Apparently, it was recorded by some Italian guy at a school near Bozoum, and the kids are schoolkids there:

This is another song from Bozoum in the Central African Republic, and once again, I have no idea what language it's in (at least I know this one doesn't have any French in it, that's for sure! And it doesn't sound like Sango, either). Like the last one, it's apparently uploaded by some Italian missionary or guy who has some undetermined relationship with a mission in the area. I have no idea how I've managed to come across at least two Italians like this. :P

EDIT: Oh, I probably thought this or the last one was in Bokoto, a.k.a. Bozom, Ɓòzôm, or Gbaya-Bozoum. It's a Gbaya language spoken in CAR and possibly mutually intelligible with Gbeya a.k.a. Gbaya-Bossangoa.

Masseduction is genius and as a rule I love any music video with neon lighting.

And here's one more song from the Central African Republic in some language I can't identify with no apparent clues as to which language it's in, this time a traditional song and dance of some kind. Even the words are pretty hard to make out, so it could just be Sango or some other Ngbandi language for all I know:

Lingala is the lingua franca of most of the Republic of Congo and the northwestern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (I would venture a guess that it's spoken throughout almost half of the latter country) just across the Congo River. It is apparently a quasi-creolized form of the Bangi language, also spoken on both sides of the Congo, having greatly simplified its grammar and borrowed liberally from other languages but not as much as a creole (such as the neighboring language Kituba based on Kikongo).

There are several varieties of Lingala; this is a song (I'm guessing some sort of Christian song, given that the singer is a pastor named Moise Mbiye) in the variety spoken in the Republic of Congo (with quite a bit of French thrown in as well) called "Natiela yo motema," performed live in Brazzaville:

Like Lingala (and Swahili, Xhosa, and Zulu), Akwa is a Bantu language. Specifically, it's in a small group of Bantu languages called the Mboshi languages. It's spoken in the Republic of Congo. This is a song from the Republic of Congo in Akwa called "As' Akwa" performed by a (I presume Christian, chuch-associated/affiliated) choir called St. Achille de Makoua:

(it)

I mentioned Colto Maltese in another post here and reminded myself of this song by the Piedmontese group, Mau Mau (this particular song is in Italian while a few of their other songs are Piedmontese).

Another Mboshi language is just called Mbosi or Mboshi. It's also spoken only in the Republic of Congo. This is a clip of songs and dances in Mbosi from the Republic of Congo. I think it's part of a series because there are a number of other videos on YouTube that are also called "TRADITIONS CONGOLAISES - Danse [ethnic group name]," I think all on the same YouTube channel:

Teke-Ebo(o) a.k.a. Eboo, Boo, Boma, or Kiteke Nord is one of the members of the Teke dialect continuum of Bantu languages, and specifically of the Central Teke group spoken in the Republic of Congo. The beginning of the third clip in this link from the GRN is a song that's supposedly in Teke-Ebo:

I really like this. :)

I don't really listen to much house music but I'm enjoying this mix right now for my afternoon study time today:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYp9Eo9T3BA

This is what I've been listening to at night when I'm doing my studying just before bed time:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pHI5MlDgps

Paul from Langfocus mentioned in one of his videos on tips for language study that he listens to binaural beats when he studies and that he thinks it helps him, so I'm giving it a try. 8-) I do seem to retain what I study a little better, but whether that is specifically because of the binaural beats in the mix or that my brain just relaxes and focuses better with that kind of music, I couldn't say. Also, the visuals for the video are nice to have on fullscreen on my PC while I use my Kindle or printed materials
