So we know that the song is of this century!

Emanuele Licci & Antonio Amato - Kali Nifta
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q65013ESax4

This is a pizzica from Salento in Griko; sung during the concert Notte della Taranta.
Apparently the Griko have adopted the pizzica dance? Or maybe they invented it? I'm not sure.
Introduction and lyrics + translation in Italian

The introduction says:

Love serenade written by Vito Domenico Palumbo (1856-1918). The author wrote 8 stanzas for his loved woman, but the lyrics below [in the above link] only has 3 of them. This song is considered oral tradition heritage.

Greek again? Okay, I think I'll use this song, which was the first song Mike posted after the first few songs I ever posted on the forum. :P It's called Του μικρού Βοριά (Tou mikrou Voria) or 'To the little North Wind'. This version is sung by Maria Farantouri, and this video has an English translation in the subtitles:

Lyrics (in Greek script): http://www.stixoi.info/stixoi.php?info= ... ng_id=4954

EDIT: Btw, I just listened to this:
OldBoring wrote:Esma Redzepova - Gelem, gelem

and most of that clip isn't in Romani. :P I'm pretty sure the beginning and end are in some Slavic language, I'm guessing Macedonian, but she sings at least part of the first verse in the middle in Romani.

Arirang - Korean folk song

I didn't realize there was Greek already before, I must've missed it when browsing the previous pages of the thread…

It's not her fault most Eastern Europeans (including Macedonians) don't know her language! :P

Oh, I remember that song! :D It's about the hope of eventual reunification, I think using the metaphor of someone taking a trip and wishing to see their family back home someday.
Next language is Amharic [flag=]am[/flag]

I don't know any specific Amharic songs except the one Elaine posted in the FSC once, but I've heard some at a local Ethiopian restaurant, and I love listening to them in the background. So I just picked the first one I found on YouTube: "Yene Habesha" by Abby Lakew. I'm listening to it now, and it sounds great, so I think I'll pick it!

And since you're here now, Limagne, I think I'll pick a language I think you might be able to post a song in, too!

You can't just find one on the thread for Kashmiri songs? :P All right, then I'll just answer my own question (again ) and pick a language that's easier than that this time! Here's one called "Sweetie Sweetie Drai Duty" that was in my head earlier today (IIRC it's about Kashmiri women gaining more rights and their husbands trying to deal with it ):

It's cold here right now, and we mentioned this language recently anyway, so...

Chandmani Erdene - Father in Ulan Bator (Mongolian: Миний аав Улаанбаатарт байна).

http://youtu.be/ZGv5f4rIS38

This song was composed by Buren Bayaer, same author of the song "Chandmani Erdene" (his first song) that I once nominated for the FSC.
After the success of that song, he formed a trio with his wife and his daughter Norma, named like the song "Chandmani Erdene".
But it seems in this song "Father in Ulan Bator" only he and Norma (I think?) sing. The song is about the daughter who misses her father, who is far away from home, in Ulan Bator for work.

I'm going to post Lauren's favorite Manchu (and Mandarin) song with the lyrics written out in Manchu script and Roman script (except for the Mandarin part, which is just written out in Hanzi). Lauren says as far as she knows, the Manchu part means the same thing as the Mandarin part. It's called "Hargaxame Wecere Alin":

Aww :( Well, in that case, I'll just do Kashmiri again! :D

Here's my favorite Georgian song so far. It's called "Mtiuluri Namgerebi" and is performed by Ensemble Kolkheti. I think it's also the last Georgian song I posted:

Limagne wrote:Next language: Kalenjin

Aha, finally a language no one's ever posted a song in on this forum to my knowledge! :D (For anyone who's curious, Kalenjin is a (Southern) Nilotic language spoken in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. That means it's not Bantu or anything but is related to Masai and to Luo, Barack Obama's father's native(?) language). Here's a song in Kalenjin by Naswa Melodies called "Kipsoiwet" (it was like the first result I found for "kalenjin songs," but it's a pretty cool song!). In this song, a woman is talking about life with her ex-husband and saying she'll never go back to him again:

OK, since it's the end of the month, I think I might as well just go ahead and answer my own question by posting the song I'll post in the upcoming FSC in advance. :D I found it on the Pamiri Languages thread in the South Asian forum in one of Limagne's posts there:

Of course Ляпис Трубецкой. The most popular Belorusian band, though most of their songs are in Russian. I can't say that I'm fond of this particular song, but at least, it's in Belarusian.

I think this song might have become my favorite song in European Portuguese so far. It's called "Navegar, Navegar" and is by Fausto. I posted it once on the music thread on the Portuguese forum:
