Not only you study obscure languages. You also visit obscure destinations!

Well, at least in that particular case, I can blame my cousin for marrying a Croatian lady whose parents refuse to leave Croatia!

Have you been to places outside Budapest?

Maybe Esztergom or Visegrád or Hajdúszoboszló or Székesfehérvár? :)

I've had a few chances to see a little outside Budapest as well: Miskolc & Lillafüred on one trip, Balaton/Hévíz on another, and then daytrips to Szentendre, Visegrád and now on the latest visit we went to Esztergom. But not enough that I could claim to have "seen Hungary", for sure. Still many places undiscovered. :)

I definitely want to visit an Arabic country. Syria and Iraq are super interesting... but sadly not this time (Iraqi Kurdistan can be an option though). I think Lebanon and Egypt are good candidates.

I have zero understanding of Maghrib Arabic varieties, while with Lebanese and Egyptian I can understand something. Also I doubt that MSA (Standard Arabic) is well known in the Maghrib. And I don't know French. :P

Good idea, I didn't think about it.

The United States. Most preferably the deep south (including North Carolina and Tennessee) or New England. There's just something about the American way of life that interests me. I'd love to go there some day. =)

Top cities in the South (from a real Southerner): Nashville, New Orleans, Charlotte, Austin, maaayyybe Miami.

Of the USA I'd like to see the Californian redwood trees, grandiose natural places like the Grand Canyon and mountains and stuff, have clam chowder in Maine (because Jessica Fletcher is my fictional hero :P), and yes, I'd also like to somehow experience the "deep south", but somehow I have this suspicion I couldn't really manage that without for example knowing someone there who could open it up for me.

Nah, just kidding. I suck at tourism and stuff like that.

The problem with the US is that it's huge, that everything worth seeing is so far apart from each other. :|

Hehe. Too bad I don't see myself getting to the USA for at least a decade, so you'd have forgotten who I even am by then.

This is so true. It's like trying to take a tour of the gems of Europe. You'd need months to do it comfortably...

And even then, every time you tried to go somewhere, you'd be delayed in an airport somewhere in the middle for hours on end while the crew desperately tries to offer passengers something that isn't even worth it just so they don't have to take as many as they started out with.

Absolutely? Huh as in visiting it from top to bottom? Hmm, I dunno, I guess Germany? I'd like to visit a lot of cities there, for some reason. Japan would be fine to visit from top to bottom if I ad the means and cash for it. Then again, I've already been to Germany(Köln and Frankfurt when I was a kid).

I guess I'd like to go to every European country and some Asian ones.

Oh, I think you might have mentioned this somewhere and I just forgot. :hmm: I used to have cousins in Slidell (and their parents still live there).
