A few sentences

Postby Levike » 2015-03-24, 18:58

I'm curious about how your languages work, so here are a few very simple sentences to translate.

Notes:

1. Underline the words that I also underlined.
2. If you're language is pro-drop then please keep the pronoun anyway.

Sentences:

1. You are inside the house.
2. I love you very much.
3. He gave you a dog.
4. This is your car.

Example: (my conlang)

1. Íve ustró bea.
2. Vesti katrom alpoms.
3. Íte trezót bás reksersti vemú.
4. Tebló lognó vema.

Side-note: Could someone come up with a better name for this thread?

Isyan:
1. Nua avuen ne kua. (or noja ___ ki.)
2. Nue sela uve. (or if to a friend: Nue solva uve)
3. Nu hiene quilioe.
4. Eige* nuo/nojo kio.

* there are no cars in Isya, so I used "horse"

Celdovin:
1. Giu natu nas soffejbu.
2. Zov gaddan gi na luif ine. (my love for you is like an orca; no one uses the verb "gaddinra" as idioms show just how much you really love the person, but if you did: gen gaddin gheistcol)
3. Gi azecoig sutti.
4. Hai giov banta.

Are Celdovin and Isyan related in any way?

Just because "nua" became "nu" by dropping the last letter the same way "giu" became "gi".

+ What's the difference between "nuo" and "nojo"?

Actually nu comes from nu + u = nu (two same vowels can't exist beside each other unless they are a or e). Nua is the nominative. The difference between nua (nuo) and noja (nojo) is that the former is informal and the latter is formal.

In Celdovin, to form the indirect objects of singular pronouns you take the oblique stem (the consonant) and add -i. "Ja" (to her) breaks this rule to contrast "ji" (to him). The second person plural also follows this rule (vi).

The two languages are completely unrelated. That just happens to be a coincidence.

I never noticed that :P !

My conlang has three second-person pronouns.I'll be using the neutral one, kaxi, for these sentences. However, it is rude to use pronouns when talking about someone that is present, so usually a name would appear where the pronouns will.
The language is pro-drop, so I bracketed the pronouns when they would not be used.

(1) kaxi ita kkasimpa
(2) (ŋula) liyutsuŋ (kaxi)
(3) (ŋa) dimil pisumaŋ kaxi
(4) ni kuŋ nan suyisaŋ kixamaŋ

If you wanted to see the different forms of the pronoun, though, you picked the wrong sentences XD All (1), (2) and (3) use the accusative (or split-absolutive or something like that. I still don't know what to name my cases).

PS: I am still working on the language and it is nowhere near finished. These sentences will most likely not change, but if they were to, I'd post again.

In Xetlaqui:

1) Viz egchalur. (Viz means "you are", the personal pronoun "you" is vi.)
2) Nixemay veo.
3) Litugoa vur itzquio.
4) Rix vihaheumvaogek.

In Novbasa (much easier):

1) Tu es in dom.
2) Me ay tu muce.
3) Hu li da un ku a tu.
4) Eto es tuy avto.

Where does "bistest" and "conset" come from?

What's the apostrophe at the end of "autom"?
