I noticed that too! I think this is probably because they are both from the same language family subgroup. :)

May I introduce you to varg.ir?
See also my page on Gilaki (in Polish, but it's better than nothing, no?).

What a nice song! I'd like to learn Gilaki, as I have familial ties to Rasht, but all I know is a little Mazandarani. There are some good resources for Gilaki on Wikipedia (English, Persian, and Gilaki), as well as on this blog.

Edit: I shared the song with a Gilani friend, who explained: mi chelcherâne means "chelcherâgh-e man" (my candleholder, ie my light). The singer is admiring a girl, her rice field, her teapot, and everything about her. She also shared this Gilaki song about Mirza Kuchak Khan.

ناصر مسعودی is its greatest singer, known as Gilan's nightingale. Google for his songs :winks:

Knowing the dialect of Native Tehranis (another northern dialect), I understand Gilaki and Mazani to some extent but I also like to learn them well.

Gilakis say «emšow šimi», here they say «emšow mišim» (Persian: emšab mirim)
