How's it coming along? What book(s)/resources are you using?

Can you help me translate this sentence?

ܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܡܣܟ̈ܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܥܡܟܘܢ. ܠܝ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܐܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ.


I've been reading like this so far:
Amar išo’ mšiḥā d-bkollzbān meskene it l-kon ‘īmkon. Li den lā bkollzbān it l-kon.

But I can't make sense out of it:
[said jesus Christ that-always poor-people there-is for you with you. For-me however/then not always there is for-you.]

Wow Hamza, you've become quite the Semitist! I'm not interested in Syriac, but I would like to learn (modern, Eastern) Aramaic. There was a thread for Aramaic, and it looked like someone was going to post lessons, but then they disappeared... :?
Currently away from Unilang.
