Apart from English and Krio, many languages are spoken in Sierra Leone. One of the most widely spoken languages in Sierra Leone is Pular, a variety of Fula. Another is Temne, a Mel language closely related to the Baga languages in Guinea to the north. The third is Mende, a Mande language. About half of the languages of Sierra Leone are Mande languages. The others are Mel languages (i.e. Bullom-Kissi languages) and Limba, which is also spoken to the north in Guinea.
Mende and Vai are both Mande languages that are also spoken in Liberia. Eastern Maninkakan, Susu, and Yalunka are others that are also spoken in Guinea. East Limba, Kono, Kuranko, and Northern Kissi are also spoken in Guinea.
