Languages of northern Cameroon

Postby vijayjohn » 2021-11-19, 0:10

In northern Cameroon, while French is an administrative language, the de facto lingua franca is apparently Adamawa Fulfulde, a variety of Fula. Mbororo Fulfulde is also widely spoken here. Another important language in the northernmost parts of the country is Chadian Arabic, or a very closely related variety of Arabic. Central Kanuri is also spoken in a small part of this area. There are also a few Ubangian languages spoken here. The other languages of this region are all Chadic, particularly from the Biu-Mandara branch.
