Chicheŵa anyone?

Postby Ndimakukonda » 2009-07-19, 21:23

Hello! I was wondering if anyone can help me find Chicheŵa sound files on the Internet. I'm learning the grammar, but the pronunciation rules are still unclear without hearing the actual speech. By the way, are there any native speakers of Chicheŵa on this site, or other people who learn it? Thanks a lot for your help.

Though I'm sure that most people who are interested in this language have found this by now, I figure I'll post this link for the FSI resources anyway:

and mirror here:
http://fsi-language-courses.org/Content ... =Chinyanja
Unfortunately no audio for either

I maybe going to Malawi this spring with my friend from Germany on a missions trip. We just to have to iron out the specifics, so maybe I'll be learning Chichewa!

And Intensive Chichewa is here:
http://nature.berkeley.edu/~alyons/chichewa/
Though for my money I like the FSI course (as is usually the case anyway). Just too bad I couldn't find any audio.
Then again the page I just linked to apparently has Learning Chichewa for sale, w/audio.
Though if you want the books for free:
http://www.eric.ed.gov/ERICWebPortal/de ... o=ED206157 (Textbook Vol 1)
http://www.eric.ed.gov/ERICWebPortal/de ... o=ED206158 (Textbook Vol 2)
http://www.eric.ed.gov/ERICWebPortal/de ... o=ED206159 (Teacher's Manual)

Good luck Formiko!
