I suppose it doesn't matter.

I mean, my first post says that this would be highly subject to change as far as the schedule and everything. This not your typical study group. :P

But I could just do it on my own too, and post stuff in a personal thread or something.

*Shrugs*

Oh OK, just as long as you only do what you feel like doing while sticking with your core languages :)

Actually, in light of this discussion, I'm wondering if we do away with the assignments, and just work at our own pace through whatever resources we want to, and use this study group as a place for sharing notes, posting exercises (if you [general] would want to] and asking questions. Or would that be too confusing, and all over the place?

If it is deemed to be too confusing and such, I might just open up my own thread and post things there as I work my way through Basic Turkmen. We'll see.

Maybe you can post whatever you like in this thread, and then I'll (try to!) follow you (unless perhaps someone else is interested in reviving this study group now, too, and wants to pursue a different approach).

I stumbled upon the book and audio of the DLI 200 Hour Familiarization Course for Turkmen which might be useful to you. The audio is in .mp3 and about half of the exercises are covered in the answer keys.

A group linked to the US military has put out some learning material including more of these familiarization courses for other languages at this site (click on "Resources" at the top of the screen and then "Familiarization Courses" to get at these courses which are organized by continent where the language is native). Go nuts.

As for other Turkic languages, there's a course for each of Azeri, Kazakh, Turkish and Uzbek.

Maybe because they thought the Caucasus is an appendage of the Middle East. :hmm:
