New flag for the Turkic forum

Postby Johanna » 2013-10-03, 23:19

You can all see it, we don't have an individual flag for this forum, but we'd like to add one. The problem is finding one that encompasses enough of the Turkic world and that doesn't have any racist (or similar) connotations.

Can you help us finding one?

Their common cultural symbol is the crescent, and there's a Turkic Council that has this flag Image

Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are members, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are future members.

On the political connotations, I don't know how it is perceived.

(I know this is old, just tell me if I'm doing something wrong by responding)

I agree. I think all the forums should have their own flags, not two or three. This Turkic Council flag looks good; no other ones are official.

Thank you :) And no problem for being late :)

But it doesn't only have to look good, it has to be inoffensive. So, what are the connotations apart from it being the flag of the Turkic Council?

For example, if you tried to find a pan-Germanic flag, it would most likely turn out Nazi and unusable. So we try to make sure that something similar won't happen when it comes to other language families.

I don't think it would be inoffensive. It's only the flag of the Turkic Council, for the Turkic people with Turkic symbols. It's appropriate, I think.

And, a pan-Germanic flag doesn't always have to be Nazi-related! I really don't like the two being connected at all. If it's a pan-Germanic flag you need, here's my proposal: http://shikku27316.deviantart.com/art/P ... -393579353 (and, no it's not at all Nazi.) But, that's off topic. I'll start a new thread elsewhere for this subject in a few seconds.

You mean you don't think it would be offensive?

inoffensive = not offensive ;)

Great news in that case :)

I think the flag below is better. (I have nothing against you)

That is a good flag; it seems more inclusive and made for the purposes of being pan-Turkic (I think I've seen it elsewhere before).

(I have nothing against you)

What does this mean?

I wanted to mean "I'm not opposed to your opinion" by saying "I have nothing against you". ;)

As an official flag of an official Turkic organization, I think the flag of the Turkic Council would be more ideal.

So the OP was made just over a year ago and there's still been no change to the flag(s) of this forum? Any reason for that?

Maybe everybody else here is just busy. I will contact the admin Johanna as well as some mods about that.

It's been years since this was first discussed, and there is still no update until now :?
