(...another one very late to the party  )

Is there anyone else here currently learning Uyghur?

I've been spending a few days going over the script, and I started chapter one of Greetings from the Teklimakan this morning (although my notes are 90% written only using isolated letter forms, hah). So far it's a lot more similar to Kazakh than I was expecting!

қалам / قەلەم
мұғалім / مۇئەللىم
жақсы / ياخشى
қағаз / قەغەز
кім / كىم
емес / ئەمەس
жоқ / ياق
etc.
I.. probably spelled all of those wrong.

But I'm sure the differences will be more apparent when I know more than 10 words.

Anyway, I'm having fun already, and I'm excited to start learning this beautiful language!

I was once thought that my post would be the final and my journey of Uyghurche ends just like that.

But you came and really became my saviour. I never know the existence of Teklimakan before. Thanks! :)

Do you solely use Teklimakan in learning Uyghur?

You're welcome! :D And yes, at the moment it's all I'm using - I've got a few PDFs of some other textbooks (Modern Uyghur Grammar by Hämit Tömür and Spoken Uyghur by Reinhard F. Hahn), but I haven't done more than flick through them yet. I'll probably use them once I'm finished with Teklimakan.

I've only finished two chapters, but I'm enjoying it so far, and I already feel like I'm learning something - I'd definitely recommend trying it out if you haven't already. (But be sure to use the accompanying audio!)

The following webpage provides a lot of additional links to, and comments on, resources for Uyghur, including some with audio:

Does anyone know of any decent Uyghur OCRs out there, preferably (but not obligatorily) in the form of a free software? I've tried scouring Chinese websites for one, but the most luck I have had on Baidu (with the keyword 维文OCR) are articles advertising Uyghur OCR services from certain platforms (and barely any providing links through which to download or access the services they promote). A Google search for some of these platforms does generate links from which to access them, but some of them look rather sketchy... and I am not proficient enough in Chinese to surf through them safely and comfortably.

P.S. I'm not sure if I should be reviving a thread that has been dormant for three years in order to ask my question. But my last question on Uyghur, which I have posted in this thread hitherto lies unanswered -- and so I figured out that I may have better luck posting under this thread. خەير خوش!
