Languages of Madhya Pradesh

While the sole official language of Madhya Pradesh is Hindi, many other languages from not only the Indo-Aryan family but also the Dravidian and Munda families are also spoken there. Many of the Indo-Aryan languages spoken here are Bhil languages, but the Rajasthani languages called Nimadi, Malvi, Lambadi/Banjara, and Harauti and the Eastern Hindi language varieties Bagheli and Chhattisgarhi are also spoken in Madhya Pradesh.

The Dravidian language varieties Kaikadi and Pardhan, the Munda language Korku, and the language isolate Nihali all straddle the border with Maharashtra. Kaikadi is apparently a variety of Tamil, and Pardhan is apparently a Gondi language variety. The other Dravidian languages spoken in Madhya Pradesh are Northern Gondi, Bharia, and possibly Khirwar, another Gondi language variety. It's unclear how Bharia is related to other Dravidian languages because it's too poorly documented to tell. Another Munda language called Agariya is apparently spoken in Madhya Pradesh as well.
