I say don't beat yourself up about all the new vocabulary in this unit. Does using the glossary help you with that vocabulary?

Before we move on to Dialogue #3, I recommend you try using the glossary with that exercise and let me know of any specific problems you run into, and I'll be glad to help you through. :) These exercises were not so easy!

I forget to use the glossary, I think mainly because I found during Unit 1 that the glossary didn't contain all the words. But I like your idea; then for this week, let's just work on Exercise 4. I'll go through it and write out any new words, try to look them up and if I can't find the translation, I'll post it here.

All right, schedule updated! It now says Exercise 4 is due Saturday, October 6. :)

This exercise was pretty hard for me, too, if it helps you feel any better. :P

I'm glad you guys are going through this now. That way you'll have all the kinks out by the time I go through the lessons. :P

Can't we try to help you with those kinks while you're trying to learn it, too?

Just to be clear, are we solely talking about Tamil or everything? You never qualified what you're giving up forever...

I assume he means Tamil.

படிக்கடா!

EDIT: Okay, I guess I better include a translation into English because how else is księżycowy going to understand what I just said? I said 'learn it!' (basically).

ஐயையோ!

Anyway, dEhiN, did you manage to go through the exercise? Is there anything you have any questions about? :)

For anyone who's following this thread who doesn't check my TAC, I never did Exercise 4. Instead, I thought to work through Tamil Paadanool and Vijay agreed to work through it with me. So I propose that we (i.e., Vijay and I) continue using this thread to do weekly goals starting with this week. The Introduction section of that site contains 4 lessons; the first two are about the alphabet and pronunciation - two things which Vijay and I are familiar with. So what about doing the other two lessons - Intro 3 and Intro 4 - due by Oct. 20? After that perhaps we could do one or two lessons per week? Or if we're feeling up for it, we could do one chapter per week.

ஒம் தம்பி.

Shall we do chapter 1 for this week? It's all review for me anyway, since I've gone through chapter 1 before. Once we hit chapter 2, I might need to go at a pace of one or two lessons a week, since that'll be new material.

Isn't it ஓம்? (It just occurred to me that in Malayalam, we actually have a pretty similar-sounding word meaning the same thing: ഉവ്വ് [u(ʋ)ˈʋɯ]. People in Kerala use this word pretty often, especially poorer people. Emigrants/expats, not so much).

I glanced through Chapter 1 and looked at the table of contents, and I have a slightly more ambitious proposal: Why don't we do Chapter 1 and the first two lessons of Chapter 2 this week, i.e. Lessons 1-6? I think we can pretty much ignore Chapter 1 anyway since it's such basic material for both of us, and all of these chapters are basically about forming verbs (unlike lesson 7).

I never quite remember if it's the long or short o; what does ഉവ്വ് mean - yes?

Ok, sounds good.
