I abandoned this thread a while ago due to lack of time and motivation, but for the next couple of month's I'll be in Pakistan and my number-1 priority will be learning Punjabi and Urdu, so if you find that song again (the video seems to be removed) I'll work on transcribing the lyrics in Shahmukhi (I find this helps more than Romanisation to remember the pronunciation) and translating them. If you can't find it feel free to suggest some other song.

Maybe it's because she sings with a non-Punjabi accent?
The problem I'm having is I'm not sure what "naini" means, although I suspect it might be نین with the locative plural suffix -iN (نینیں); i.e. "in the eyes".
vijayjohn wrote:I'm just making a wild guess here, but even though نین is a native Punjabi word IIRC, is there any chance that it could be a loan construction from Persian, so something like nain-i-khaab -> 'eye(s) of dream(s)' -> dreamy eyes?

Perhaps you can start a separate topic in the SAL forum (SAL rappers), or a topic in the Culture forum (world-wide rap music), if we don't have one yet.
