Meera is going to scream I'm afraid :)

I will officially be on board the plane Kunming-Kathmandu on July 24th !!

I started studying Nepali and the devanagari script is easier to remember than I thought. And I find it faster to read than Hangeul for example.

I can now say greetings and make (very) basic sentences like :

Mero naam Julian ho.
Mero ghar France ho.
Yo ke ho ? - Yo kalam ho, yo kapi ho, yo sisakalam ho, yo ghadi ho etc.

Yo/Tyo kasko kitab ho ?

I can't type devanagari on my computer, nor can I display it but I can also write these sentences now I think.

My bf says if I learn Nepali I can also understand a lot of Hindi. I don't know to what extent this is true though.

Any other Nepali learners around here ???

Oh I will eat a lot of momos for sure :)
I currently use an ebook I downloaded : Nepali : A beginner's primer, Conversation and grammar

There are are 16 very long lessons and apparently it goes quite in depth into the basic knowledge you need to know to say what you need once in Nepal.

The good thing is it doesn't use any sort of romanized version of the language, so you have to remember devanagari before starting the course. That's what I was looking for.

No problem!
Actually it's kind of funny, I remembered the pdf site after you said what text you were using, but I just happened to find the other site with the videos by happenstance.

I think for writting devanagari google is nice, they don't have special one for nepali, but I use it for Hindi.
I have once downloaded book on Nepali, and it seemed a lot like Hindi.
There should be no problem with inputting it then.

Ma nepalilai maya garchhu :)

I studied two lessons and can now read devanagari comfortably already I think, It was not as hard as it seemed first.

I also learned the simple past tense for a lot of verbs, the imperative tense, the difference between chha and ho, the present tense for chha and ho :)

I go to Nepal on the 24th, until then I hope I'll know enough to converse a little bit.
