Hi, everyone!
Lately I got interested in Pashto language. My approach is by no means comprehensive but I have some more detailed questions to ask (I have tried to register at pashto.org twice, but mods apparently didn’t like my login :silly: ).

So, first of all. Having selectively read a Pashto grammar I noticed that some (irregular) verbs are prefixed with: raa-, dar-, war- in order to mark respectively 1st, 2nd and 3rg person singular indirect objects. Are they added to verbs freely or aforementioned verbs are just fixed forms whareas the prefixes are no longer in use or had never even been. In other words, is it possible to used them with – for exemple - verb denoting ‘run’?

Secondly, are there prefixes marking plural indirect objects, namely: ‘to us’, ‘to you’ and ‘to them’?

Thirdly, among listed in the book verbs there were only ‘take to me’ (raawrr-) and ‘take to him’ (warwrr-). However I didn’t see ‘take, bring to you’. Is there any ‘darwrr-‘ in Pashto?

Fourthly, I wonder upon the use of general or unspecified forms of aforementioned prefixed verbs. Is there any bare ‘go’, ‘bring’, ‘come’ or ‘take’. I would be very grateful, if you wrote them down.

Finally, I would like to ask whether it is possible to omit perfective prefix we- in doubly irregular verbs. I know that –el- is optional when it comes to irregular verbs that have different past and
present stems. On the other hand most of perfective stem pairs differ merely by accent shift. Isn’t it too little :hmm: ? What to do with those that differ not only by accent, i.e. gd-/kegd- (put), wardz-/wars- (go to him) etc

Thanks a lot :)

Nice first lesson Meera. :)

You don't have to take my suggestion, but could you give us exercises for us to do so that we can get some practice? :)
