There is an active Māori community on Memrise if anyone is interested. I have added two wordlists containing the 2000 most common Māori words which will get you pretty far on vocab to start!

I have considered trying Te Whanake 1: Te Kakano, but I have only found the podcasts and the videos online. Does anybody have the PDF of the book? :D
Corrections are welcome

Stan Walker has recently released a song in Te Reo Māori (a verse of which is actually our national anthem in Māori..). I've embedded the video below with the lyrics :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWhAoZZh8fc

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
ahakoa nō hea mai koe
ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu

Ko au tō maunga, tū tonu
ko te moana pari mai koe
ko koe te awa i taku remu, ko tāua anō tāua
nō te one i Kurawaka, hei tiaki i te whenua nei

Aotearoa, he iwi kaha tātou,
he mana tuku iho mai anō
whenua haumako
wairua ora
whāia tō ara
ki te mutunga

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
ahakoa nō hea mai koe
ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu

He kōrero tō te whenua, heke mai ki a tātou
he toa au mōna e oke nei e
e kore au e hinga
he uri nō te roimata
te toto o ngā tūpuna
e kore au e wehi ē

Kia kaha tātou ki tāu i pai ai
Whakatinana, kaua e ngutu noa
Whenua haumako, wairua ora
whāia tō ara ki te mutunga

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
ahakoa nō hea mai koe
ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
ahakoa nō hea mai koe
ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu

E Ihowa atua
o ngā iwi mātou rā
āta whakarongona
me aroha noa
kia hua ko te pai
kia tau tō atawhai
manaakitia mai
Aotearoa!

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
ahakoa nō hea mai koe
ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
ahakoa nō hea mai koe
ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
ahakoa nō hea mai koe
ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu

Thanks riptide. I forget that these content restrictions exist. Pain in the butt, they are.

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before, but this is another song in Maori.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yblB87dpJGc

E ararau o Tangaroa
E rere ki te papaurunui
(x3)

Tahora nui ātea
Te manawa o te moana
Te mauri o Tangaroa
Tangaroa whakamautai
Tangaroa whakamautai

Tūtara Kauika
He poutiriao
Te wai o Tangaroa
Te wai o Tangaroa

Te tangi a te tohorā
He tohu nō aituā
Te mau a Tangaroa
Te mau a Tangaroa

He kaitiaki
He taonga
He tipua
He ariki
He taniwha
He tipua
He kaitiaki
He taonga
He tipua
Tangaroa whakamautai
