Is it progressing for someone? Not really for me. There's a year now that I am trying to "familiarize" myself with the language and it is not really working. There are some Egyptian groups that are trying to learn it, but as they don't really "speak" the language, I don't know how to proceed. They mostly communicate in Egyptian Arabic, and they try to use Coptic in nowadays sentences or concepts.

But I don't know It's a mess. I am lacking everything, vocabulary, grammar, audio, and the only texts I have found are lithurgical, so....

Well, that's to be expected, unfortunately. Coptic has largely been nothing but a liturgical language for centuries.

It would be quite interesting if it was able to be revived, but I for one am not holding my breath.

My recommendation, if you really want to learn Coptic, is just learn one of the two major dialects that literature is written in. Sahidic or Bohairic. Might not be quite as fun as learning to speak it, but it's the surest way to actually get somewhere in my opinion.

You could always dabble in the revival after you've gotten some "classical" Coptic under your belt. And it might make more sense to you then.

I am going to start again, but I will try to do a quick reading

I don't think I ever even finished reading the introduction because none of us ever reported to sticking to our goals.

What are our goals? I would like to be able to have the level to translate some texts. I mean, as almost nobody speaks it, although they are people trying to revive it. It’s like when we study an ancient language, like Latin. So maybe we should focuse on grammar?

Oh no, I just meant that back when this group was (briefly) active, a few of us said we would go through the Introduction section in about a month, then the group died about four days later.
