Inscription on ancient Roman ring

Postby Waylah » 2017-09-08, 8:42

Hello,

On a ring, purportedly second century, what might the following inscription signify?

MAPKA
TQVPE

The Q - might - be an O, but I'm not sure. Looks pretty Q like to me. The second A is almost worn off, but I'm pretty sure it is an A. The V I suppose functions actually more like U, because this was well before the shape of U and V swapped around? I'm not a language expert by any means. Any information would be pretty cool.

Thanks in advance!
