Excuse me, two more mistakes in spelling: not εἴτωμεν but εἴπωμεν; not τοιοῦμεν but ποιοῦμεν.

Thanks księżycowy for this thread! You make me want to refresh my Ancient Greek!! This is one of the languages I love the most! I'll follow your thread.

It's been too long since I've posted here. So we'll have two verses this time!

Verse 7:
ἐάν δὲ ἐν τῷ φωτὶ περιπατῶμεν ὡς αὐτός ἐστιν ἐν τῷ φωτί, κοινωνίαν ἔχομεν μετʼ αλληλων καὶ τὸ αἷμα Ἰησοῦ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καθαρίζει ἡμᾶς ἀπο πάσης ἁμαπτιας.

Gloss:
ἐάν δὲἐν τῷ φωτὶπεριπατῶμενὡςαὐτός
but ifin [the] lightwe live/walkas/thushe
ἐστινἐν τῷ φωτίκοινωνίανἔχομενμετʼ
isin [the] lightfellowshipwe havewith
αλληλωνκαὶτὸ αἷμαἸησοῦτοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ
one anotherand[the] blood[of] Jesus[of] his son
καθαρίζειἡμᾶςἀποπάσηςἁμαπτιας
cleansesusfromallsin

Parsing of Keywords:
καθαρίζει - 3 sing. active indicative of καθαπίζω
πάσης - fem. gen. sing. of πᾶς

Translation:
But if we live [or: walk] in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of his son Jesus cleanses us from all sin.

Notes:
-I did initially get confused as to the initial subject up to the comma, but after referencing the NRSV, I got it sorted out. I originally had, "But if he is in the light, thus we walk . . . " Which made absolutely no sense.
-τὸ αἷμα Ἰησοῦ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ is pulling double duty as a fun little phrase, and the subject of the verb καθαρίζει.

Verse 8:
ἐὰν εἴπωμεν ὅτι ἁμαρτίαν οὐκ ἔχομεν, ἑαυτοὺς πλανῶμεν καὶ ἡ ἀλήθεια οὐκ ἐστιν ἐν ἡμῖν.

Gloss:
ἐὰνεἴπωμενὅτιἁμαρτίανοὐκ
ifwe saythatsinnot
ἔχομενἑαυτοὺςπλανῶμενκαὶἡ ἀλήθεια
we haveourselveswe are led astrayand[the] truth
οὐκἐστινἐν ἡμῖν
notisin us

Translation:
If we say that we do not have sin, we led ourselves astray and the truth is not in us.

More to come next week.
