Ancient Word Game

Postby księżycowy » 2012-05-26, 14:44

No, I'm not calling this "ancient" because the game is so old. :P Working of the popularity of the Alphabet and Word Association games around Unilang, I figured I'd start them here. But why limit it to just Latin?
Any ancient/classical/dead languages are welcome!
This is the word association game. The next word needs to work off of the word before it in some fashion.
Oh, and if it uses a script that is not supported, feel free to use transliteration.
I almost started this in the "Other Languages" section, but the Latin sub-forum is already here, and it probably would easily get lost in the other part of the forum.

Sorry for the late responce. And as you may have noticed we've been translating into English, not Latin. And you only need to post one word.

On with the game! (Hopefully!)

Obiter omisistis litteras Q et R, quas addidi. Vale!

Well, quite simply because this game is not meant to be just for Latin (be it in the Latin sub-forum or not).
A knowledge of Latin was never a requirement I made on the games. Some people might know Latin, some may not. Basically, I wanted the games to be as accessible to anyone interested in any ancient/classical/dead language(s) as possible.
The only reason it's in this part of the forum really is because it was the best place to put it IMO. I thought it would get lost too easily in the "Other languages" section, and there are no other ancient/classical/dead language sub-forums, so here it is.

I'm still holding out hope a general ancient/classical/dead languages sub-forum will be created. Why should we only have a Latin forum? As cool as Latin is.

And I'm not sure what you mean by the thing about q and r. If anything this opens up the games to more letters (depending on the language used), as I explained in the alphabet game. The word game here doesn't matter what letters you use.

Hope that clears things up. :)

Fieri non potest, optime księżycowy, :D quin cum Teutonio nostro prorsum consentiam. Equidem hoc ipso loco nulla alia lingua utendum esse censeo nisi Latina. Quid ergo? Nonne ludum "Ancient Word Game" transferri oportet in aliud forum?

Ok, as much as you (guys?) may hate English, my Latin sucks, so it would help my comprehention of what you're trying to say. :?

And before there are any hard feelings on anyside, I don't hate/dislike/etc Latin, I actually intend to study it quite extensively, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
