he is desperate, desperately wanting something; in dire need; he will settle for just anyone (i.e. a mate)

That reminds me, Vijay, what are you using to learn Mi'kmaq?

Well, first I used this, but I've long since gotten through that and now use their songs (especially the ones on top, most of which they obviously translated from English, since some of those are more familiar :P) plus this (especially this) and this. I also once used this, which looks like it may be part of a pretty neat series, and I occasionally try to use this since I can read French, but that's less useful because a) the transliteration is kind of a mess and b) they don't seem to ever say what variety of the language they're covering!

Lol, it's also funny to me how in Michif, it just means 'big', but at least in Hexagonal French, it means 'fat'. 'Big brother' in Michif is gro frayr, which sounds like 'fat brother' to me in French. :P

(from the end of this, to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot." They overuse apostrophes a little IMHO)

That's like the time on the Thai word association thread when I wrote "cat" and somebody else wrote "pussy." (Then I wrote "cock").
