I was kidding ultimately the number of flags though is arbitrary. the proposed option of the first two or three actually sound good to me. As does having a question mark flag anyway, as ultimately the flag is their just to signify the forum and that is a visual way of representing a lack of a flag.

I think I'm the only Native American in this forum, and I think the Navajo flag is fine.
Cherokee Indian STILL improving German.
Getting reacquainted with Swahili Msaada!
In no particular order

I'm not to crazy about leaving it without any flag, as to me it looks like our section isn't completed or something. [Maybe it's just me]
So we'll go with what's been proposed then. I think we're ok with that.
[Oh, and I figured you where joking :)]

I believe you're right. Thus your opinion on the matter should weigh in the most.

Well, Navajo has the most speakers in the US. If we count Canada, Cree and Ojibwe win hands down.

Indeed.
I'd be happy with either flag, or even both. :)
So do we want to go with one flag or 2-3?
It really doesn't matter to me.
And we are for all North American Indigenous languages (US and Canada), so I don't know how you want to factor that in.

I do think it's just you. I feel like adding flags is just alienating other languages. There is no flag for "Native American languages" so then there shouldn't be a flag for the form, because that's what it's supposed to be for. It'd be like if we got a board for Ancient Egyptian. There is no flag for Ancient Egyptian, so we can't have a flag for the forum...but what's the problem?

I would put an Egyptian ankh for the Egyptian forum. So maybe we can have a symbol that would represent the indigenous people of North America. WHy not an avatar of Tatangka Iyotake? (Sitting Bull?)
Or possibly a wigwam and tipi together? OK, I know there are also long houses, but we're trying to make a happy medium, right?

Why not the emblem of the Washington Redskins?

Obviously by this point I've given up my 'crusade' for one (or more) flag(s) for the sub-forum.
I've actually grown used to the ? mark.

Though if anyone still wants to propose anything, feel free to post.

Reopening the thread, as I just got a new suggestion:

Imyirtseshem wrote:Thought I'd make a suggestion: why not just make an image of North America? Just a line drawing. It's the right region, no flags, and doesn't limit itself to one particular language. What do you think?

I think it's an interesting idea. Similar to Formiko's idea of taking a symbol of something common to Native Americans. :hmm:
